will this work with a reference monitor?

BEST ANSWER: This cable has a female XLR which means your source; sound card, mixer, USB Interface, etc, will have the XLR Out and your monitor has 1/4" input. If your source is XLR then I would look into a full XLR cable Like our new StarQuad Cable. If your source is the 1/4" connector be sure it will support a TRS connection, your manual will say balanced 1/4". and you will need the TRS 1/4" to a male XLR

Though your question is overly broad and aspecific, I will attempt to answer it. A stage monitor typically uses Speakon connectors, so no to stage monitor. A studio monitor may have XLR, or 1/4" TRS (balanced inputs) so, in many cases, yes. But it also matters what source you are using. I presume a control room out or monitor out on a mixer? Check your output panel and your inputs on the speaker itself first before purchase. Assuming you did all that, then YES, this patch delivers Excellent quality sound to hopefully a pair of high end studio monitors (meaning you need 2 cables) with Gold Plated connectors for maximum conmection, low injected noise threshold. Hope that answers your question. Also 3ft works great if your monitor is sitting closeby to your rack appliance, but maybe consider 6ft lengths or longer if not the case.

Yes, I use them with my Adam AX7s and they are great. I replaced Mogami cables with these and I love them. I learned about these cables from my son who is a sound engineer for Disney. Disney buy these in bulk because they are excellent quality for the price. Check out this comparison from ezvid.wiki titled 10 Best XLR Cables 2018. I strongly recommend these cables that cost a fraction of the price compared to Mogami and Canaire.

I just tried to test this out and it's the wrong XLR connector for my monitors/PA. I'd need the XLR male connector to make this work. (Yamaha HS8 monitors). I'm using 2 TRS/TRS male cables between my interface/monitors from mono. I'd expect the male version to work as it just needs to be a balance cable.

In this case as the wire is 16 awg it should be sufficient to carry the low wattage requirement for reference. Keep the run short, <25 feet. It's a matter of distance and amount of power. These are questions you must research to find accurate answers to related to individual demands.

You mean for mixing? I don't see why not. I believe these are what I am using to connect my mixing monitors to my interface, which I using for recording, mixing and mastering

If your reference monitor has a quarter inch audio input, tip ring sleeve… And your audio source is a line level male XLR, then this should work just fine.

so long as you're going 1/4" to XLR yes, the 1/4" is balanced but that shouldn't matter.

BEST ANSWER: By the way you phrase the question, yes. This takes the + - G (low/high/shield) of a balanced XLR and adapts it directly to a 1/4" (TSR). Both ends are balanced, but just on different connectors. If your EQ has XLR and 1/4" balanced, you can use a XLR M to XLR F in place of this cable. Note that you want to confirm your 1/4" is balanced (likely is) as there are also 1/4" unbalanced.

Yes, this is a standard balanced cable and should work just fine. The cable is well built and of high quality. Since you equalizer supports either xlr or ¼" TRS inputs, you could also use an XLR male to XLR female cable such as item 4754.

Depends - if the input to the EQ says "balanced TRS input" or something like that, then this is the correct cable for that purpose. If you need an UN-balanced input - this cable might not be the correct one.

It should, but you will want to be sure you need a female XLR connection versus male. However, you might be better off going XLR-to-XLR instead of XLR-to-1/4".

You need 1/4" INPUT jacks on the EQ for this cable to work.

I purchased a 3ft Premier Series XLR Female to 1/4inch TRS Male 16AWG Cable (Gold Plated), I have a Micromon MA 400 that says I need a 1/4" Unbalanced/stereo TRS or Unbalanced /mono TS, will this cable work since it's balanced?

BEST ANSWER: You can technically use a mic cable for a stereo unbalanced signal BUT, both channel conductors would be inside the same shield. It MAY give you crosstalk issues between channels. It would be BEST to use a Siamese style cable so each channel has its own shield. As for connectors, it makes no difference what you use. 3 conductor XLRS are used all the time.

It should work since you are going better. If it required balanced and you were going unbalanced, that might be a problem.

Great Quality
Monoprice has great quality audio cables at great prices. These cables were the best bang for the buck I could find anywhere. I just wish they offered these with a 90 degree angle XLR connector to keep rear protrusion down behind the mic preamps I am using them for.

No surprise, worked perfectly
Needed these to convert xlr mike cables to get into the last four inputs of my interface, a Mobile IO 2882. They worked perfectly. I know with quality Monoprice cables they will last for a long time.
