As long as there is enough clearance in the wall to mount the speaker it should be fine.

I am only wanting to put one speaker in each room of my house. I was about to order the 2 way speaker pairs from this site for $49 before I realized there would be an issue with left and right channel hook ups. Someone told me to maybe just use single imput stereo speakers. From what I understand these speakers do both? Really confused on what I need. I hate to spend $100 a speaker for single ones, but I do have a mono switch on my amp, so would it be easy to merge 2 way speakers anyways?

BEST ANSWER: Thanks for your interest in our ceiling speakers. The simple answer (and cheapest) is if your amp has a mono switch then engage that switch and sum both left and right together. You can buy the standard speakers and drive each with one channel of your amp. Both speaker will receive both left and right signals.
If the amp's mono mode is a "Bridge Mono" then this will not work. You will need to get these stereo speakers. You will run left and right wire pairs to the first speaker then attach left and right to the second speaker in parallel. Your amp will need to be stable to 4Ω, should be if it will run bridge mono.
If you still need further assistance contact customer service for further explanation.

Note that this item is for 2 speaker units, so you are really only paying $40 per speaker. Each of these speakers can take two independent inputs (L and R) and plays both signals. Note that there are two tweeters, each one is playing one of the signals. You don't get a huge stereo effect, but you get some separation from a single speaker. I use this in my bathroom to extend the audio from the master bedroom. Those two inputs do have to be independently driven by the amp, so you are potentially using 2 amp channels for the one speaker, but each "side" of the speaker does give 8 ohms of impedance so if your amp can drive 4 ohms (attaching two speakers to one channel on the amp) which most home amps can (but check your manual), then you can run two of these in parallel off one L/R pair on your amp getting psuedo-stereo sound in two rooms. I think it really comes down to how you want to control things. If you want to turn down or off one room but not another, what is that going to look like, or even be possible on your amp? If you are wired in parallel, then obviously it's both or neither. But if you have the L channel going to one room and the R going to another the amp may not give you much independent control there even if you are in mono mode. Depends how high end of an amp you have. And, as the staff answer mentions, if your "mono mode" is actually "bridge mono" that's something different. That's using both L and R channels of your amp to drive one signal. The amps I have owned don't have a "mono mode" that mixes the L and R for you on both channels. There can actually be problems doing that for some content because subtle differences between the L and R channels can cause some parts of the content to cancel themselves out if you just simply combine the L and R signals. (as best I understand it)

These dual input speakers allow both left and right channels to play through a single speaker. They can also be set for single input if you want to run mono audio in. I'm not sure if the mono switch on your amp combines the left and right audio. You would need to check the specs on the amp. But anyway, if you want left and right audio through one speaker, these will work great. They come as a pair though, so you can do two rooms.

Can I use these speakers for 7.1 surround sound setup? How do you wire the speakers to use 6 speakers (front - left and right, rear - left and right, and rear surround - left and right)? I have separate center channel speaker that sits on the mantle below the TV and sub off to the left in a book shelf.

BEST ANSWER: These speaker are not designed to run your entire home theater system. They are good for rear surrounds where space is limited. They are primarily designed for distributed audio where stereo, or dual mono, is required but only one speaker is necessary. For your home theater i would go with the Alpha ceiling speakers. They are just a hair more expensive but are much better sounding. Run 6 of these for your main left right, surround, and rear speakers.

Enter an answer to this questionThe short answer is you can't. Stereo refers to the “image” of the sound. There is not such a thing as stereo speakers. What you have is two speakers and a stereo mix.
How does it works? Each speaker reproduces a mono mix (one source) .
Two mono speakers are two mono signals, sometimes called dual mono. Why is not stereo? Stereo provides a mixture of the environment in two separate channels. For example. Do the test. Cover one ear and you still will hear sound generated from either your left or right, alas if you cover your left ear sounds coming from the right will seem stronger (louder) than those from the left and vice versa.
That is stereo. This is a distribution of the space onto two channels and not two separate mono channels.
With surround something similar will occur. You have the environment split into 5,6,7,n number of speakers; however, there is a catch. This is only true for the environment as main dialogues are normally mono in the centre channel with some leak onto the left and right channels.
So…what you can do is to set up a quadrophonic system or a dual stereo system. This will not give you surround but it will give you a richer experience.
I am unsure if you have a surround amp. If this is the case I would recommend to go with a 3 point surround using left, right and centre and the forth speaker for parts.
If you don't have a surround pre/amplifier, then I would just use two stereo channels and add a bit of delay ( you can use transistors and resistance to build your own or simply using an out of the box delay.
Measure your room. And add the second set at 1/4 of the wavelength of your Freq of interest. This creates an interesting atmosphere but it is not surround.
What makes surround is the decoder , not the speakers.

I have a sony receiver that I've had wired up to single input ceiling speakers in a prior home and it sounded fine. My question was pertaining to the dual input of these speakers (aria dual input 6.5") and if I could wire using one channel per speaker, wiring into one set of terminals on the speaker itself, and setting the jumper to parallel, so that I only needed one pair of wires going to each of the six speakers mentioned (fronts, rears, and surround rears). My concern was using one channel per speaker (6 aria dual inputs in the celing, and my standalone center channel) and connecting them properly.
Yes, fine for 7.1. I used 2 of them for the rear & 2 for surround and kept my old floor standing speakers for the fronts, but these Aria's would be fine as fronts too. I have a fairly new Onkyo receiver, so I just followed the set-up guide & labeled connections on the rear of the receiver. I also used some monoprice banana plugs where applicable.

Thanks. DId you run one pair of wires to each speaker terminating in one of the sets of terminals and setting the jumper to parallel? I have an older Sony receiver but has capability of 7.1. I had it wired in a previous home with single input ceiling speakers and it sounded fine. The dual input for these speakers confused me a bit on whether they would be ok.
Yes you could. Your receiver should have outputs for the rear channels.

Yes, that's exactly how I installed mine. Do note that the item Monoprice is selling here is for a PAIR of speakers, which is a little silly because the whole point of a stereo point speaker is that you only need one. Still $80 is a good price even if you only need one. I still have the second one from my pair sitting around waiting to find a place to be used. Tried selling it on Craigslist but nobody responded. Maybe I'll post it again at some point.

Installed these speakers two years ago. They sound great but the grill covers do not seat properly.... it is virtually impossible to fit the round edge of the metal grill into the speaker cavity lip. One edge will never pop into the cavity and the grill is constatly falling to the floor. I have tried to seat the grill many times and nothing has worked.

If using one speaker to deliver stereo (L/R) sound -- and you have a right channel wire with (+/-) and a left channel wire with (+/-), do you really "reverse wire" one of the two channels? (red to black and black to red)? ... or wire as you might expect: red to red and black to black on both sets... the instructions are a bit confusing (or counterintuitive)

BEST ANSWER: I wouldn't think so. The speaker is designed to be "blind" mounted into a hole in the drywall between the joists. You would have to be able to get behind the drywall to build any enclosure to block sound travel. You could probably mount to an enclosed box but this wouldn't be a typical installation.

What enclosure do you sell that is compatible with this speaker?

BEST ANSWER: Thanks for your interest in this ceiling speaker. If it is a back can you are looking for then you can probably use PID 11941. If you are looking for a cabinet to install this Aria speaker in then I am sorry, we do not carry anything that will work for this model. This unit has a cut-out dimension of 8.1" if you need to look for a speaker box for it.

BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your interest in this ceiling speaker. A speaker enclosure will provide better bass response from the Arias. If the ceiling is over 12' high you may not hear the bass extension.

So do you need a 4 strand or 2 strand wire for these? Parallel sounds like 4 strand but it says it doesn't matter which pair goes to the source meaning the other pair does not go to the source it goes somewhere else? Like to the other spkr input? IDK

BEST ANSWER: No, as I understand it you leave the connection at the stereo connection and then wire the second set of wires at the pinch clamps in reverse from the source (red to black and black to red, respectively). This is how it was explained to me when I inquired.

For a number of reasons, I am considering purchasing this pair to use as the 4/5 and 6/7 channels in a surround sound configuration. I realize this has certain wiring implications, but my main concern is about the resulting surround effect. Has anyone else done it this way? If so, what was your result?

My AVR has Speaker-A and Speaker-B terminals, both stereo (L/R). It also has a Bi-Amp feature with both those sets of terminals. Could I possibly use those terminals (all 4) to power 2 of these speakers, with both tweeters on both speakers enabled? Also, I would like to add the 31032 subwoofer to my setup, with the 31032 and the 4619's running independent of each other. Is this possible? Please advise.

Greetings Dave, from your recent response to my latest question, you said: "You can enable the Bi-Amp mode on your AVR. From the A/B terminals labeled High you can run two cables from each L/R Out to each of the Aria speakers L/R inputs. The other A/B Terminal labeled Low run one set of cables from the L/R out to the L/R inputs of the sub."
There are 2 sets of speaker inputs on the sub. I have 5 questions:
1) which inputs from the Aria speakers should be used on the sub?
2) what about the 2nd set of inputs? Should those be routed to an amp?
3) Is the sub still going to be powered by a separate amp?
4) Can I also bi-amp the Aria speakers, and then power the sub separately by feeding it directly to an amp for line-out from the AVR?
5) Assuming the answer to #4 is yes, which Monoprice amp would you recommend?
Thanks!!

Thanks for the replies, Dave. So no amp whatosever will be needed to power this Sub? BTW, my AVR is aSony STR-DN2010. Just want to make sure I have enough juice to power everything, and that it will sound good. Thanks again.
So, I looked through al 152 pages of your manual. I do not see a whole lot of control by using the bi-Amp mode. I was hoping to see where you could control crossover frequency and hi/low level. I guess they are assuming the auto-calibration will do whatever you need. I do not thimnk the bi-amp mode will work the way you want it to. The x-over looks like it will be set for tweeter to woofer which means it will be set around 2.2K - 5K. Your system will not sound good. I think you will need to use a separate amp to the sub. You will want to set the Main speaker as Small so it does the x-over around 90Hz - 150Hz. Take the RCA Suwoofer out and get the Unity 200-Watt Bridgeable amp, 18514. Plug into the right input, take another RCA from the right output to the left input (I know it sounds janky, but it works). Run Left/Right speaker outs to the sub's Left/Right inputs.

Nice Speakers! Default As Mono..
The overall build quality is good. The soft dome tweeters gives them a nice sound, much better than most in the price range. The instructions could use some improvement, as for the jumper settings. And why make the default jumper setting as "Mono" when marketing it as a "Stereo" unit? I understood what I was buying and assumed it was configured as what it was being marketed as but I was wrong. After a very hot amplifier and an ohm meter, I figured it out..

Good speakers for in-wall
Good speakers. Sounds great. My only little issue is that it may be a tad light on the low frequency. Hence gave 4 star. Well built and solid. Do not tighten the locking tabs too much otherwise I think the speakers flex and you will have difficulty re-inserting the grilles.

This is my second pair of Monoprice in wall/ceiling speakers. These were perfect for the bathroom and laundry room there were installed in. Sound is very good, clear separation but not surprising a bit weak in the bass. I knew they would lack the lower end, so no surprises and I am definitely coming back for more. Quality, shipping time and product description are awesome, only time will tell if these can withstand daily use at often times above speaking volume. Thanks for making whole house audio affordable without sacrificing sound quality.
