Can this be flown on a plane, or does it contain too much Lithium?

BEST ANSWER: Hi, this may not be allowed on the plane. Lithium-ion batteries, including those in laptops and power banks, are allowed but limited to 100 watt hours per battery, with the option to carry up to two larger 101-160-watt-hour batteries with airline approval. I hope this helps.

You may not bring this onto a plane. Limits for lithium batteries are 100 watt-hours. This is 300 watt-hours, which exceeds the limit.

This has a battery that is too large to take on an airplane. The largest battery permitted by the TSA is 100 Wh.

How long does it last on a single charge?
A shopper
on Oct 26, 2023
BEST ANSWER: The PowerCache 300 contains a 296 Watt*Hour battery. If you (first, assume 100% efficiency) put a 100 Watt load on it, the formula is 296 Watt*Hour / 100 Watt = 2.96 hours. The tricky part is when you have an intermittent device such as a refrigerator. In those cases you need a watt-hour meter such as a WattsUp to measure consumption over time, i.e. a "standard" house fridge consumes typically 1000 Watt*Hours every 24 hours. (Note, this small 300 Watt unit will not power a fridge. You need a bigger unit such as the PowerCache 1000).

That of course completely depends on the power draw! More information is required to answer the question.

Full time? I would say not a good idea. For example, what happens if the unit shuts off (drains to 0% battery) and then the power is restored? It's unlikely to turn itself back on automatically. You need a device that's actually marketed as a (reliable) UPS. These portable units (Jackery, etc) aren't designed for that purpose (reliability).

Second, 300W is too small for a fridge. You should look at the 1000W version. I tried my fridge the other day and it was running at 700W as reported by the PowerCache 1000 for about 10 seconds. This unit (300W) would not be able to handle that.
Second, a typical household fridge consumes 1-2 kwh of power per day, so a 300 wh (0.3 kwh) battery would last only a few hours (if the inverter did not shut down due to overload)

What is the 12V port output voltage (selectable?) and how much does it change over a discharge cycle?
A shopper
on Jan 13, 2024
BEST ANSWER: 12 V port output voltage is not selectable; it will not output 24 V (If that's what you're asking. Apparently this is common in Europe). The PowerCache 1000 has a 24 V output port that is physically identical to the 12 V output port.

It powered my CPAP for 10 hours and still had a bit of juice left. Great backup for my medical needs
