Would this allow me to connect two Playstation 4 units outputting 1080p and see both of them on the lower left and right corner of a 4k tv?
would the audio from both also be combined into the output?

BEST ANSWER: You can connect two units and select the quad view to get lower-left and lower-right video output. The audio output can only be one of the HDMI inputs at a time (no mixing).

While viewing a single feed is it seamless to add/remove single source PiP? Or, does the entire output black out momentarily? (I need a device to do that one function)

Good, but integrators beware RS-232 problems

Device is overall good. It handles HDCP well. It negotiates HDCP internally, so all sources will play at their highest resolution for DRM'd sources. It does not need an HDCP display attached at all times (it is not "passing through" HDCP).

Supposedly the HDCP level of the output is configurable with RS-232, but I could not get the RS-232 protocol to work after several hours of trying and two different USB-to-serial dongles, with the provided software or with PuTTY, at different speeds, swapping TX/RX, 5V vs. 3.3V levels, etc.

I sent a message to support a week ago and never heard anything back.
