Does this solution require a dedicated ethernet connection or can it be used over a LAN?

BEST ANSWER: This is point to point type device, not a true video of IP. Also the unit I got only worked over a 2' CAT cable. The 50' cable I purchased from Monoprice would not pass picture.

While it uses ethernet cable, it does not adhere to the ethernet standards. It is not Video over IP, it has no MAC address to go through a switch. Point to point cabling only.

Can I daisy chain them to feed one signal to two tvs?

BEST ANSWER: Assuming both displays are the same resolution, yes, you can use two sets daisy-chained via the loop output of the first set.

I wound up not using this device; instead, I replaced my copper HDMI cable with a fibre HDMI cable, and that has worked perfectly so far.

What is the default edid if I don't set one?

BEST ANSWER: It appears to passthrough the EDID from the display by default. If you press the EDID button once, it will 'learn' the EDID from the display that the RX side is plugged into (if isn't already passing it through). If you hold down the EDID button for 3 seconds it will learn the EDID from the TX loop. If there is no display on the loop, it will use the built-in EDID, which is 1080p 2CH.

I’m only getting about 1 year out of any brand of extender that I buy. Only going about 50ft on copper cat 6. Any suggestions on what is happening? No issue with surge on anything else in the building.

So i just bought these and they worked great plug and play no worries. Great price too. Works well with 4K apple tv where some hdmi baluns have issues.
