Would it be ok to use a desktop that is 74 inches wide? It says the maximum is 70.9 inches but I'm not sure if that's a strict limit?

BEST ANSWER: I would think so, provided you don't exceed the weight limit and you're comfortable with a little overhang on the sides. The maximum width is determined by how wide the frame can go, but I don't think there is any harm if you end up with an extra 2" of desk on either side of the frame.

Nothing will prevent you from screwing the frame to an oversized surface. I have a 59x32" surface, and with a 4inch gap between all edges it is extremely stable. Being over by a 2 more inches on each edge is probably not a problem. You should double check that the total weight of your surface and what you plan to use it for does not exceed the frame's weight limit. You're likely fine.

It's more of a weight restriction than one of size. When you start to have things going out past their recommendations, you might notice the motors in the legs bog down a bit when lifting. Shear weight (the combined weight of the object and gravity, past the point of attachment) is a thing.

It’s not a strict limit, you can bolt whatever size desk you want on top.

BEST ANSWER: No. I reused the wood screws that came with the original desktop and transferred them over to these new legs. Worked out fine.

The prop 65 warning indicates possible exposure to Pentaerythritol Dibromide. Is this substance contained (in a closed gearbox or such) or is it something the user would be really exposed to?

BEST ANSWER: It’s likely from the rigid foam that is packed around the desk to secure it. Don’t eat it and you should be fine.

Where can I find directions on how to set up the pre-set heights?

BEST ANSWER: The manufacturer wanted to keep it a secret, so they cleverly hid the information in the user's manual. They know very few people read it.
:-)
You will find a link to the user's manual in the "Description" tab under "Support Files".

Can wheels be added to the legs?
A shopper
on May 23, 2023
BEST ANSWER: Hello and thank you for your desk. The desk wasn't really designed to use wheels/casters because stability could be affected especially at full height extension, but if you are looking to DIY modifications, it is possible to change the feet to casters with the same bolt size, just note that casters will add height and could introduce some instability.

10/10 would recommend.
Very easy to set up. Dual motors work well. Supports my 100lbs oak slab counter and raises and lowers without jerking my monitors around.

Great standing desk
I made a 71" x 28" hardwood top for this desk and the motorized base is great. Huge range of motion, very quiet, and seems reasonably fast.
I was concerned the mounting holes wouldnt provide enough room for seasonal movement of the hardwood top, even though the holes are slightly oversized with rubber grommets for the screws. So I lengthened the holes on my drill press on the depth sidewhile still allowing the rubber grommets to hold in place. Very pleased with the end result but I wish it was manufactured that way would have saved me wuite a bit of time.

Solid frame, motor struggles
Solidly built and easy to assemble with the provided instructions.
Overall high quality frame. The motors, however, sound they struggling to raise the table, even without any weight. I have same frame in my wife's desk, bought one year ago, and it has two large monitors on it, in addition to all her other stuff, and it raises smoothly.

Excellent value.
Great value! This is my second of this model. Very pleased with quality, performance and features.
I replaced the feet with casters - they are M8 stem casters with about an 18-20 mil long stem - you don't have much room to screw in a longer stem so go short if you're planning to do that. The casters I ended up with required that I cut off about 10 mil b/c they were too long.

Dead on arrival
Received DOA with a broken collision detector, so it will only move an inch or so before reversing. Now I have to break it back down and ship it back. This has happened to at least one other person online, so not an unusual problem.

Disappointing Experience
I had high hopes for the Monoprice Sit-Stand Desk Frame, but it left me disappointed. The predrilled holes didn't align with the Monoprice tabletops as advertised, causing frustration during assembly (table top ID 33085). Even though well under the weight limit, the desk's adjustment was painfully slow. Overall, I am dissatisfied with the product, but returning it is a daunting task due to complicated disassembly and repackaging. The build quality is decent, but the critical flaws in design and functionality outweigh any positives. I would not recommend this desk.

Great price for good standing desk legs
Solid set of legs for a 73", 1.5" thick wood desktop. Only negative to it is the lifting speed. It doesn't struggle but it is pretty slow going from 28 to 42.
