My HP laptop adapter is 45 Watts. Will this match the input needed for the laptop or max out with 100 Watts if it is the only thing plugged in?
New User U
on Feb 2, 2022
BEST ANSWER: The charger and your laptop will negotiate the power your laptop can accept, and that may be higher than 45 watts. For example, your laptop may have shipped with a 45 watt adapter but can charge at 65 watts. In that case the charger would supply 65 watts. If your laptop can only accept 45 watts, this adapter will only output 45 watts, and the other ports can be used.

Depends on your notebook. If it “handshakes” for 45W the brick will supply that. USB-C devices communicate with their chargers to define what will be the voltage supplied.

There should be no issue. I’m using this with both a Dell Latitude 5410, and the new 2020 14” MacBook Pro. It works perfectly. I highly recommend it!

Will this convert voltage for use in Europe?
Mark L
on Jun 3, 2022
BEST ANSWER: Like most device chargers sold, this one's input voltage is rated from 100-240 volts, so yes it can be used in Europe. However, you will still need a plug adaptor because of the different outlet configurations used in Europe.

While I have never used this specific charger in Europe, all the other GaN chargers I have used successfully in Europe indicate Input as 100v - 240v and functioned without a problem.

It is spec’ed to run at an input voltage of up to 240VAC@ 50hz, the European standard. So with the appropriate plug adapter it should work just fine.

It should. Listed input voltage is 100-240V. You'll obviously need an adapter to plug it in to a European outlet.

BEST ANSWER: I do not own the devices you're asking about. However, I have used this to charge my iPhone 13 Pro Max, my MacBook, and my iPad Pro all at the same time. They all charged just as quickly as if they were plugged in and charging alone, with the iPhone having fast charged close to 60% in about 40 minutes.

100 watts at 5 volts is an output of 20 amps. Doesn't seem that the output cables can handle 20 amps more than a few seconds. Is this verifiable?
Alan O
on Apr 18, 2022
BEST ANSWER: Hi Alan, the charger has a max output of 20v and 5 amps using PD protocol over USB-C. Using the USB-a ports, the max power output is 5v @ 3 amps and 4.5v @ 5 amps. I've used all different types of monoprice usb-c cables (USB-C PD Atlas Flex 100W cable to charge a laptop, down to a micro USB at 2A. The charger detects the type of cable and the protocol it supports, and the allows the max power supported by the cable. This depends of course on the power draw of the device you are charging. This charger has operated flawlessly for me for all my charging needs.

The output voltage in fast charging mode is not a constant 5 volts, but switches between 12, 9 and 5 volts depending on the state of the battery being charged. Also, the 100 watts is for all four ports combined; it won't output 100 watts to a single port.

100 watts charging will be at 20 volts /5 amps. Officially cable needs be certified to handle 100 watts at 20 volts. Regular phone charging cable may not work.

Make sure the adaptor is firmly secured to the charger since the weight and short length of the charger's extendable prong tends to come off the electricity socket

What is the exact position of the foldable plug when fully extended? The product photos are contradictory: one shows the plug in the center, and another shows it about one inch from the top edge. Does this device stay firmly in a wall socket? Does it block the socket above it?
Edwin W B
on Oct 30, 2021
BEST ANSWER: The image where it's about an inch from the top edge is correct which means that it will not block the other socket (as it will hang above/or below)-- that is unless you intentionally plug it in to block both sockets. It's as firm of a fit as one of those large-sized Macbook charging bricks, though I can see it becoming a bit loose depending on cables and tension between said cables and the connected devices.

Reviews of (very) similar looking items on Amazon mention a lot that it gets very very hot?
Does it?
Also mentioned that the charging cycle gets regularly interrupted for short seconds which then makes an iPhone make a 'begin charging noise' which is especially annoying in the. night. Is it the sam with this charger?

Smart power management is stupid
I plug both Apple Watch and iPhone to usb c ports. Sometimes it will only charge one, not both at the same time due to power management. Kind of annoying because it can not reliably supply power to all ports.
End up go back to original 4 port that has dedicated power to each port.

Works great so far, charges multiple devices super-fast
This works great so far. I may add some kind of small extension cord at some point, but it is excellent for travel. Charges several devices fast. I can plug in a laptop to charge over USB-C, phone, tablet, and it charges everything great. Very happy.

Could've burned down the house!!!
Not only did this die within 6 months, it went out with a loud pop and started emitting tons of smoke! Burned to the touch when I ran to unplug it from the outlet. I hate to think what could've happened had I not been home at the time.

Received short shipment of Monoprice USB-C Charger 100W-1 port PD, GAN Technology fol
I love the fast charger, but disappointed as I ordered 2 and pack slip said 2 but I only received 1. I could not figure out who to notify of the shortage as I am not sure who I purchased the item thru. I've been getting all kinds of ads to by other products from Monoprice, but am afraid I will get shorted again. If this email goes to someone in authority it would be great to get the item that I was shorted.
