Will this work coming out of just ANY USBC port on my laptop? Or does it have to be a USBC Port that is specifically designed to go to a monitor ALREADY? For example I've already tried a usb-c cable from this particular port to a monitor, and nothing happened.

BEST ANSWER: Not all USB-C cables are created equal. Your USB-C port should be able to handle video, but if you were not using a USB-C Thunderbolt cable, then video may not be transmitted. Try using the proper cable first. If that works, then this adapter should work with your HDMI cables.

This does require special ports, as I found the hard way. Most desktops will not have them, and only very modern laptops do, so check your specs.

it worked for my laptop but mine is a thunderbolt so I can't say where it would work for a non thunderbolt laptop

Will this work to actually split extended display to 2 HDMI cables and two monitors from any USBC port in my computer, even if that USB C Port is not specifically designed to go to a monitor originally? In other words is this like a j create?

BEST ANSWER: No, it did not do that for my Dell laptop. The device is limited, and have not found a Windows laptop for which it works.

Works just as expected. On Windows 11. Two monitors, and can use to extend the desktop or to have duplicate.

Allows for different resolutions!
Exactly what I needed! This USB-C adapter allows for two video signals at different resolutions, which allows me to run my ultrawide at 3440x1440 and my other monitor at 1920x1080. I found that not all USB-C adapters/docks can do that. But this one can!

Display signal was mirrored on two external displays, not useful for me
This item declares it is a dual HDMI adapter. I hook this up to my Macbook Pro 2019, and yes, it sends output to my two external HDMI monitors, but the output was the same screen on both. I thought 'dual HDMI' meant it would support these as 2 separate external displays, i do not want the same external signal mirrored on both displays. I have read that this can happen if your laptop does not support multiple output signals for multiple displays, but I thought Macbook Pro 2019 with latest macOS supported this scenario.
If the product description were clear about how this product behaves, i would have selected a different product.

Hi Scott, thank you for your feedback and sorry to hear that this adapter didn't work as you expected. For macOS systems, unfortunately they don't support MST display, but rather only SST display (both external monitors show the same content but different from the laptop) or Mirror display (both external monitors show the same content as the laptop). It might take a special & more expensive docking station with the latest MacBooks to be able to get the MST mode.

4k Suppoert depends on your PC
While the device supports "up to two 4K" displays, your PC might not be able to drive that; my PC can only do one 4K or two 2K displays even through this adapter.

Hi Paul, thank you for the feedback. Yes you're right, the actual display resolutions will also depend on what your laptop or PC can support. The dual 4K@60Hz displays are the maximum that this adapter can support, and of course it would be able to support all the lower resolutions allowed by any laptop or PC. Might not be a bad idea to get future-proof'ed with the 4K@60Hz now though as this adapter is at around the same price as older-generation technologies.
