I have a narrow-depth desk and a LG 34" widescreen monitor that is too close to my eyes. Can this arm move my monitor further away from me and behind the desk?
A shopper
on Sep 26, 2022
BEST ANSWER: I would say this is technically possible, but the arm is very long, so it depends on your setup whether you'll be able to place the clamp where you'll be able to move the monitor behind the back of the desk. Either way, this mount is probably not the best for an application like that because it only has a single actuation point, so you'd be pushing the entire arm away from you and turning the monitor to face you. That may be possible, but whether your monitor would end up pressing against the arm is highly dependent on the shape of your monitor. So you'd probably be better off getting something with 2 actuation points for that application.

Yes it can. I had originally mounted a 34" monitor. Mount it off center so the arm extends towards the center of your desk. You can then swing it to be flush with the back of your desk.

What is the minimum desk thickness required for the clamp?
A shopper
on Dec 29, 2022
BEST ANSWER: According to the manual, 1.5". However, you can always use a spacer of some kind (in the past I have used little wooden planks I found in the crafts section at Meijer), assuming the desk surface is substantial enough that it won't break.

When the double screw clamp is mounted to the back plate on the upper two screw holes, it will clamp on surfaces as thin as 1/8".

Looks like 1/2" or 12.5 millimeter would be the thinest.

Yes, but I was not inquiring about the weight, it's that the back of the Apple monitor is not VESA compatible. I can't find any adapter and none of the standard VESA products work on Apple producs...

Can you do a full 90' forward tilt with a monitor attached with this arm? The upside-down L-shape where you attach the monitor, makes it look like it would block a full forward tilt.

Great monitor arm!
Great monitor arm! A little bulky but it's to be expected for a heavy duty monitor arm. Cable management is clean and easy to use. Works for monitors of all sizes and allows me to use all of my desk space.

Great But...
The mount is very well-built but just can't support my new 49" widescreen monitor weighing 32 lbs. I had to put a block under the arm. Otherwise, I think it's very well built and an excellent value. I'm keeping it.

Good basic option for heavy monitors
Am using it to hold up 20-pound 27-inch iMac Pro, replacing an ergotron dual monitor setup which was rated for less than 20 pounds. Plate that goes under desk is not attached to the screws, making it a bit tricky to get on desk. Assembly was otherwise straightforward and well described. As to daily use, does not feel as well designed or as much range of motion as an ergotron / amazon basics LX. Some squeaking out of the box when adjusting monitor around. A good basic option for heavier monitors

Works great with G9
Monitor arm works great with a Samsung G9. Make sure to use the adjust screw at the top to tighten the arm so it holds the weight. Love it. I have it off center so the monitor can push to the back of the desk. Was 1/3 the cost of the next viable mount for this monitor.

Really good once it?s set up
I bought a 49? Dark Matter display a while back and bought this mount to hold it. Unfortunately, the vesa mount supplied with the stand is designed for 75mm and 100mm vesa mounting. The dark matter monitor is a 75mm mount but is recessed in a circle. This didn?t allow the supplied vesa bracket to mount to the monitor. I ended up needing to find/buy additional M4 standoffs to properly mount the monitor. The additional stand-off height needed was about 15mm even when using the two standoffs supplied with the monitor for vesa mounting. Having 4 more of the standoffs originally supplied with the monitor would have been great to have supplied with the mount. Other than having to figure out mounting options, the mount has been great. Easy to move and position how you want it. Make sure to have a sturdy desk though.
