How do the hdmi fiber cables perform with video matrix switches, like an Extron HDMI Matrix Switch? I basically need to run a 65 foot cable from a wall input to the matrix switch, then run an output from the matrix switch 65 feet to a TV. I know the cables are unidirectional...I only am curious about functionality with a video matrix switch.

BEST ANSWER: Hi, thank you for your inquiry. This cable will work with your Extron matrix. Fiber HDMI cables avoid signal degradation over long distances. So, that length should not be an issue. However, this cable is unidirectional so you need to make sure the connector is on the right source and monitor.

These function perfectly with every matrix, switching or distribution device we've used them with for over three years. They are superior in every way. Although we never spec or use Extron components, we do use Crestron, Kramer, Atlona, and many others.

We use these cables for our AV installs and have yet to see any compatibility issues stemming from the actual hardware. Majority of the challenges encountered are end user related. It's safe to use them for the intended purpose.

I personally haven't had any issues running these with a matrix switch. We switched to these from video over ethernet adapters and never looked back.

I need a 75 foot HDMI run. Can I couple the 65 foot fiber cable with a passive 10ft HDMI extender? I would rather not have almost 25 feet of fiber cable spooled in the wall with buying the 98 foot version

BEST ANSWER: You can, but I've had mixed results when adding a passive extender to the AVHDMI with runs of under 50 ft.. To ensure success, I would go with the longer run and spool the excess.

Is this in wall rated?

BEST ANSWER: From the Monoprice site: Non-Copper Cables
All of the fire safety ratings we have mentioned so far are for copper based cables. We are often asked if our optical cables are able to be run in wall. The brief answer is, yes they are. Our fiber optic cables are OFNR rated, Optical fiber nonconductive riser. This means that the cables have been tested to resist a fire should they come in contact with fire. As these cables to not carry any electricity, they themselves could not become the cause of a fire in the event of an electrical surge.

Do I need to run this in conduit in a crawl space? If so, how big are the connectors so I can size the conduit properly.

BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question. This is an optical HDMI cable and is rated at VW-1, which is safe, but not for in-wall installations. If you still wish to proceed and install this cable in a conduit, the connector dimensions are 1.65 in X 0.79 in (41.8mm X 20mm).

My TV is a Hisense 65U75N and the cable needs to be at least 60 feet long to connect to my Sonos Amp. Will this cable work well in this configuration? Can it be used outdoors/ in a pergola? I’m currently experiencing audio choppiness about every 10 seconds while using a 4K HDMI Cable 75 Ft with Built-in Signal Booster | HDMI 2.0 High Speed Unidirectional Cables 4K@60Hz 2K 1080P 3D ARC Ethernet Cord | for UHD TV Monitor Laptop Xbox PS4 (22.8m) -https://a.co/d/9E2kcNd

BEST ANSWER: Hi, thank you for your inquiry. This cable uses light signals, so it’s immune to interference and maintains a stable signal over long runs. However, the cable is unidirectional and not ARC-capable, and it is not outdoor-rated. This cable is not weatherproof, with no UV/water resistance. You would need a conduit or a protective sleeve to shield it from moisture/sun. I hope this helps.

Excellent product
For long 4k HDMI runs, nothing I've ever used has come anywhere close to matching these cables. A delight on all fronts. FAR more reliable than standard copper cables!

Works Great!
Used a 60' version to run through a smurf tube from behind my home bar through the wall, up and over the vaulted ceiling and down the opposite wall to my tv in my game room. No connection issues, no delays, etc.

For 4k runs longer than 25ft, an optical HDMI is your best option (without having to mess with signal repeaters)
It simply works.
