BEST ANSWER: I had asked the same question and never received a reply. However, the headset comes with a cable that splits the 3.5mm plug into a speaker & microphone plugs, so it's not an issue.

Decent considering cost
Definitely a vocal response to the earphones which is good for clarity while conferencing and listening to talking podcast type programs
Their is mechanical noise transferred to your left ear from handling of the cord -and they can faintly hear it on the other end of a call.
Other than that still a good no-nonsense headset that just works either directly on an 1/8" jack device or with USB via the included USB cable with control buttons. Works windows, PC and Linux and you can use the USB cable with other headphones too.

Microphone Too Quiet
In hoping to avoid hauling headsets between the office and the home office, I purchased this to use for Webex and Skype calls.
Multiple meetings and people have commented on the quietness of my sound. The driver doesn't provide any option to increase the microphone gain, so I either yell or get a new microphone.
Very unfortunate, but in this case, you're getting what you pay for.

Good mic and sound for meetings - bad microphonic noise
I was looking to get the over-the-ears Dark Matter Gaming headset #42300, but several reviewers complained about poor mic on that one, so I went with this #43018 instead. I don't game, this is for meetings and phone calls.
Mic is good. Sound quality is tuned for for voices -- as you want for meetings. It's comfortable. Cable is fixed, not detachable, but at this price that's acceptable.
My only concern is lots of microphonic noise whenever you touch or move the cloth-wrapped cable. It's pretty bad and makes it almost impossible for me to use it with meetings and phone calls.
I seriously considered returning it for this reason. If Monoprice had another headset I trusted to NOT have this issue and still have a good mic, I would have swapped in a heartbeat. But I'll keep it for annotating video recordings, where it's mic that matters, and continue to use my old webcam mic and speakers for meetings and phone calls.

Rage inducing out of the box
Simply junk. Avoid disappointment and pay full price for a Poly Blackwire headset and don't buy this item.
