BEST ANSWER: They are powered by the Transmitter via the CAT6 cable, but since they are not using Ethernet communication protocol, it isn't called POE.

Must all TVs be the same resolution or does the device revert down to the lowest resolution in the extension chain?

I have two cat5e UTP wires run to three tvs and a projector over various lengths in my home from a receiver. I would like to send 4K at 60Hz signal to them. Will the Monoprice Blackbird 4K HDMI 2.0 1x4 Splitter Extender work over these wires, or does it have to be cat6? If it can work over cat5e, will there be loss of signal quality? If there is loss of signal quality, could you splice the two cat5e wires together to equal performance of the cat6?

Does this allow a single laptop to project out to three displays in "extend mode" or simply mirror the single input? Looking for a solution to allow laptops to share three monitors on a single laptop output to the matrix, with at least 3 receiving outputs from the matrix to the displays.
Goal, extend video output from laptop to three separate monitors showing three different video outputs.

Doesn't Support Custom Edid
Doesn't allow for a custom Edid. Only 4K x 2K. Wasn't what we need for real production.

Does a great job with 4K
This splitter/extender replaces an older 4K Monoprice splitter and two 2K Monoprice extenders over CAT 6A. It works great. I love have everything in one unit and moving to 4K compatibility. I use the loop function to move 4K signals to a second room and the rest go to four additional rooms that have HD TVs. Also am also using the ability to extract audio signals although I would have used an optical rather than coaxial output if I were designing the unit.
