what is the rated output ?
A shopper
on May 17, 2021
Are you talking about the wattage, it is 0, this does not have any amplifiers included in it and you need to purchase an amplifier or two in order to power your speakers. This is next level equipment above a unit that processes your sound as well as powers it like a receiver.

it's a preamp / processor. There is no rated output. You need an external power amp to go with this. Monoprice power amps are a great choice. I have the monolith 7x 200.

The HTP1 is a 16 channel Processor not a receiver. You would need to have your own amps or powered speakers/subs. What output are you asking about?

What is the difference between Dirac Live and Dirac Live Bass Control? Does the HTP-1 come with Dirac Live? But Bass Control has to be purchased as an upgrade? Is that how it works?

You get bass control for one sub only, if you have additional subs you need to purchase a license. I own this and have it calibrated and again, it covered one sub. See the Youthman site for the Harmin curve to add back bass as it is quite low on Dirac by default.

Main reason I’m interested in this is because of the multiple subwoofer connections, I’m planning on running 2 18 inch subs and 2 built in amplified subs on a pair of GoldenEar Triton One.Rs. The HTP-1 only has XLR connections and The Tritons only has an RCA for the sub input, I would have to use XLR to RCA adapters to make it work. My question would be is this safe or okay to do? Audioholics mentioned during their review that they don’t recommend connecting the balanced outputs to unbalanced inputs so wanted to ask here

I do not like adapters personally either which is where I think Audioholics was going with that. It is though safe and two of my subs are connected with adapters (sadly). I cannot audibly hear the difference in quality although I do not consider myself an audiophile to put an asterisk by that comment.

I have two subwoofers that only have RCA input, and I am planning to purchase HTP-1 processors which has XLR output for subwoofers. This looks like the right adaptor with the correct XLR end to plug into the HTP-1. I would have liked to see a female RCA end but I have lots of female to female ends so that is an easy fix. I wanted to ask this an appropriate adaptor or is there a better one for what I want to do?

Stage Right by Monoprice On Tour Cables - XLR Female to RCA Male, 24AWG, Black, 1ft
BEST ANSWER: Looks like the right choice. I don’t know if you could find a stereo pair version, but these look and feel like good quality cables (a hard thing to find in my experience, with any cable that has RCA connectors).

This will work appropriately. The cables are well made and will send your signal to the subwoofer no problem.

Hi. I have a 2.2 stereo system with active loudspeakers and dual active subs (Genelec 8341s and 2 x 7350) that all have digital AES/XLR inputs. Does the HTP-1 support AES on the XLR outputs?

BEST ANSWER: You would have to use the analog XLR inputs on your Genelec speakers. On the 8341s, its the furthest right input when looking at the rear and the Subs LFE Analog input. The HTP-1 doesnt support any AES out (only as an input).

BEST ANSWER: I’m actually in the process of wanting to do that
There are several subs. Just don’t do room correction on the subs you bring to shakers. I’m dedicating a sub channel for the 8 shakers

So you have verified that it's possible to disable room correction on one of the sub outputs? Thanks!
just rechecked by adding more subs
You can overwrite any room correction per channel and band so yes you can have it at 0 accross the board for a given channel with no issues

When will the HDMI 2.1 upgrade be available for the HTP-1, and how much will it cost? Will the price of the HTP-1 go up after the upgrade?
Scott

BEST ANSWER: It's TBD. I'm sure you saw there are issues with the 2.1 chipsets that are out now, and we are trying to avoid that same situation. It will be sometimes next year, probably in the late summer. There are only 2 HDMI 2.1 devices on the market--PS5 and XBOX Series X.

Is there any plan to produce a somewhat smaller version, with fewer outputs, for a lesser price? I have no need for 16 outputs. A 7.2 or 9.2 option would be very welcome if the price point could be lowered. I'd love to get back into separate preamp/processors and power amps.

is the Dirac Bass Control license attached to the HTP-1 or the user that purchased it? Will the license stay with the HTP-1 i if/when it is sold or is it transferable to a another Dirac compatible device?

Good processing but glitchy
I?m happy overall - met my criteria for excellent sound at relatively low price (got refurbished for $500 less). It?s a bit of a handful to configure, but once you?ve got it figured out, it?s reasonably easy to use. I downloaded a lot of its remote ir codes into my home theater master mrf800. Biggest problem and complaint is that it has consistently crashed (dead) about every 3 or 4 months, requiring complete software restoration as well as reloading settings and Dirac filters. It?s on a UPS, so power glitches shouldn?t affect it. I?ve contacted Monoprice several times about this but have NEVER gotten a response.

Perfect in all respects?
I waited a long time to submit this review as I wanted to first complete my 16 channel system. Bottom line: It?s an A+++ hometheater processor you?d have to pay at least over twice as much to match in all respects. If you?re looking for a processor with audiophile sound quality for movies or music, this iis the one you want to buy! There?s nothing I didn?t immensely like about this audiophile grade processor?buy it and you?ll be elated you did! I?m among the toughest critics, and this processor surpassed my expectations with flying colors and then some!

Amazing and Awesome!
If you buy a HTP-1 get used to hearing the words awesome and amazing. Because it is! You'll need associated equipment to augment the HTP-1, to achieve all the potential of this unit. I have two different systems, each in their own room and booth units work flawlessly. I really like the Auro 3 D upmixer. I would have preferred a tv based ui instead of web based ui, however, that should not be a deal breaker. Glad I bought this and would highly recommend the HTP-1 to anyone.

This thing is something else
I thought I had a good setup with my Denon receiver and 7.3.4 setup, but I was wrong. This processor along with a Monolith amp and another on the way is night and day better. After I calibrated it I sat down and listened to music for a few hours followed by a movie. I melted into all of the content I consumed as if I was there and the room faded away, no exaggeration.
This system is just in another league, you need it in your life hit the button and get it done. I stand behind this and am now sold on Monoprice's entry into the higher end home theater business. Good for you starting out right Monoprice, I look forward to further updates to come on this unit. See the massive AVSforum thread on this bad boy, that custom UI is fire!

Fantastic unit, lot more clarity and detail in the sound than my last receiver from Marantz. Runs super cool, and the web interface is super slick. Dirac Bass Control really helped tame the bass in the room.

Best processor out there
I use the HTP-1 in a 9.1.6 setup with the additional single subwoofer Dirac Live Bass Control licence applied. I have a well treated room acoustically so wasn't expecting a massive improvement, I was wrong, very very wrong. This truly is endgame sound. If you can afford one of these, don't hesitate, they are that good. The developers are active, as are people over at AVSForum creating custom GUI's and what not.
