works friendly with dolby vision on Apple TV 4K?
Eric H
on Jan 14, 2021
BEST ANSWER: So, my TV is the 2020 Samsung Frame 55", which supports HDR 10, not Dolby, but I'm very confident that it would work for Dolby (A friend of mine has an LG OLED with Dolby and these cables work well for him). One additional upside...after plugging in these cables into my 2020 Apple 4k TV I received a new option under the ATV's video settings, which allowed me to upgrade the output to "chroma 4:2:2" instead of the standard 4:2:0. Overall, I believe the cables are truly "high-speed" up to their advertised rate.

Just the little extra length I needed
Was faced with a monitor-to-CPU distance on about 8.5 feet, so a standard 2 meter cable wouldn't reach - this 10-footer is perfect!

Didn't work for me.
This cable (10ft) would not pass a 4K 120Hz signal from my PC without glitching. I have a cable from another brand that is certified and it worked just fine. Make sure you get one of the certified cables (from Monoprice or elsewhere) instead, especially if going longer than 6ft.

Quality Cable
I am able to test this cable at 4k @ 144hz with HDR and VRR. Everything seems to work great! I bought several of them. I used some for my computer, and some for my televisions. I can't test the 8k features out, but these cables work for my 4k 144hz, and they appear to be great quality. Monoprice is usually my go-to for cables, and they never disappoint.

Does what it sets out to do and has good build quality.
It?s an HDMI cable, without branding, that does exactly what it says it does. The cable is well built. The branding is replaced with a indicator saying that it has enough bandwidth for 8K HDR. I like this cable. It?s a good cable.

Solved problems and hopefully future-proof against new ones
Solved problems I was having with standard High Speed cables running 4K HDR Chroma 4:2:2 from an Apple TV 4K on one TV and with periodic 4K HDR sync issues with an AT&T TV box on another TV. If youre having problems with existing cables or need new ones anyway, might as well get the latest actual options.
