I notice the PEAK power rating was added to the title and specs at some point after, is there any change or update/clarification on the frequency response, for a 15 inch at 600w RMS, I would think it goes lower than 30Hz?

BEST ANSWER: The idea that smaller subs are better for music is absolutely false. Smaller subs do not move faster and the lighter cone does not make it "light on its feet." An accurate sub will work for both movies and music. If a sub sounds better for music, it is often because it does not extend as deep or play as loud. You can always turn down the volume of the sub, and ideally, use an EQ device like miniDSP to adjust the response to suit.

I tried it on both movies and music but not extensively with diverse music. It's pretty good for movies and I liked it for music but I think the 12" is better for music or even the 10" because the cone will be much lighter and motor structure would be easier to move quickly since music demands a sub that is light on its feet. Does using a RCA Y-Cable to the Subwoofer's RCA inputs give the sub more signal?
K G
on Nov 30, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Yes. Running the signal with just one RCA cable to the SUB-IN input on the sub will decrease the output quite considerably. I tried with both RCA connected and single RCA connected and the output difference is very audible.

Is the 600 watts listed RMS or peak? Also, I'm a little surprised that the given the size of the woofer and the wattage the low end of the frequency range isn't lower than 30 HZ. Any explanation of why this is?

In what direction are the physical measurements taken? How wide (across the surface where the woofer is located) is it?

4 *s if you go via price:
This is tremendous bang for the buck, but they undergo absolutely *no* testing prior to being sent out when these arrive from china. I ended up having to purchase two units the first 24 hours of receiving the subwoofer (Mono doesn't do anything resembling cross-shipping, they will not send another sub until they receive the old one, regardless of if you ask them to put a hold on your card for example...) The first one's auto switch worked as an off switch when switched to auto, the second one's auto switch works once per power on. Because of the incredible effort required in returning I'm just using a smart outlet to control the sub rather than using auto, or leaving it powered on.) As far as the performance goes, it's a 15" sub with a decent amount of boom. The performance drops off very quickly, so it's more of a mid-bass monster that performs quite well in music when dialed in, and it IS enjoyable for movie watching, but it doesn't hit as hard on the lower tones as the other (much more expensive!) options for 15" powered subs which is completely understandable as this is a fairly inexpensive beast and Mono wants to sell the monolith brand (which hopefully gets a lot more Q/A attention!) I don't regret purchasing this one (and I was refunded about 48 hours after my first sub was returned, I had to work with the return process as the sub is much too heavy for drop off, but it went fine.) I purchased this as a gateway to the monolith amps in the short term as well as the monolith powered sub in the long term and based on the quality of the two units I received and the lack of cross shipping return options, I don't think I'll poke their high price options. If you need cheap boom, these lowly $250 600W 15" subs are excellent items to look at but don't expect the auto switch to work properly and make sure you test them thoroughly the first 30 days. I'd personally rather front firing instead of down, but that's just nitpicking at this price point.

High quality sound system for other audio file nuts
I am somewhat of an audio file nut that occasionally enjoys live level sound and have for over 55 years. I like tight low cycle sound with clean highs. I recently installed a sound system in my 750 square foot office. I custom built a 12 inch Peerless ELS subwoofer in a sealed enclosure with a passive radiator powered with a 300 watt dayton plate amp. I built the subwoofer18 years ago. The amp is a Luxman LV 109 with a pair of Infinity SM150's and pair of SM120's. In the SM120 I replaced the 12 " woofer and midrange speaker with professional quality speakers. With the addition of the Monoprice SW-15 the stage presence is Wonderful.

I ordered this subwoofer when it was on sale for $249.99. Originally I had the 12" 150W $99 dollar subwoofer that MP offers and was pretty good so my expectations for the 15" were very high.
LIKES:
- The subwoofer hits hard and sounds great within the advertised frequency range 30-150hz.
- Great value even at full price.
DISLIKES:
- Below that frequency range it produces a lot of port noise (chuffing) and you can hear distortion noise coming from the cone. I wish they implemented a bigger port or dual port design.
- Also the port on the inside is not totally smooth so maybe that adds to the noise.
- Another issue is that the sub takes quite a bit of time for it to kick in.
Please check my video here showing the distortion and the time it takes for it to kick in.
