2 sw-12” subs or 2 10” Monoliths for a home theater?

BEST ANSWER: That’s not even a fair comparison. The monoliths are by far better. The SW 12’s are nice but more for a budget minded person.

two many variables for a definitive answer to this question but going with the 12" sub will provide the most flexibility.

It's a single RCA cable that goes from the lowest RCA connector in the MM5s to the input of the subwoofer. https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=2683

Is the 400 watt Power Rating a Peak/Dynamic Rating or is the Sub 400 Watts RMS? It sure would be nice if that was somewhere in the description but im guessing thats a "peak" rating so thats why its conveniently left out.

good for the price
My only complaint is that the cabinet is not well braced and resonance from the box is introduced to the sound field, but for the price not sure perfection is a reasonable expectation. Good addition to smaller speakers, maybe not so much to full range. Was able to get them to extend down to 28hz before roll off in room with room correction software. Sound good in AV system, decided not to use in 2 channel system.

This is a solid "budget" amp! Loud, clear, and awesome!
I already had this subwoofer's big brother, the Monolith 10". But, I didn't want something that expensive, nor that powerful, for my bedroom system. However, I did want a subwoofer that would be able to handle all the low frequency sounds, plus get a bit loud if needed.
This subwoofer is everything I wanted. First, I think it should be noted that this subwoofer has a very powerful amp which helps a lot! Low bass notes require a lot of energy to push and the amp in this sub is 400 watts, powerful enough to do the job!
It doesn't get quite as low as my Monolith amp does. However, we can't really hear those notes that are that low, but we can feel them. That being said, this subwoofer gets quite low. The specs say it can reach down to 33 Hz which is almost as low as we can hear.
The subwoofer can reproduce rumbles for earthquakes and explosions very well and also handles music with aplomb. I think the sound is not as tight as the Monolith, but its quite acceptable to my ears.
It is ported on the bottom which helps it get those low notes. It has a switch to change phase, too.
Basically, I see this amp as a smaller, less featured version of the Monolith. If you are putting together a home theater and need a subwoofer, but can't afford a Monolith, then this is a great substitute. I recommend it without hesitation to anyone looking for good bass without breaking the budget.

Amazing subwoofer for the price
Amazing subwoofer for the price, I have the big brothers in the home theatre room so I decided to try these out in my living room/gaming room and these are almost as good as the monolith's. They almost pressurize the room, the Monoliths get lower and louder but these are pretty amazing for the price. I would highly recommend.

Crazy price for what you get.
At $200, this is a steal. Very good for movies. It can bottom out, but it will rattle windows. The build quality isn't superb, but it works. If anything I may open this up and put some bracing or polyfill in it just to get some of the resonance to go away.

Slapperino Cappuccino
Have you ever had annoying neighbors living above, below, or right next to you constantly playing their stereo too loud? Well great news because this behemoth will help you level the playing field and make those plebian neighbors realize who they are messing with. If you are interested in taking it even further I would suggest the 15 inch version of this subwoofer as it will really knock their pictures off the wall.
