Could this speaker be used as a large center only speaker? Perhaps wiring all 3 channels together? I ask because getting a powerful enough center channel for a loud home theater is always a challenge, as well as the desire to avoid dead spots. And yet I'm not sure if the left and right channels, if wired together with the center, would cause significant cancelations.

This speaker is not designed to be used as a center speaker. You're better off buying a good center speaker. I remember seeing Monoprice matching LCR speakers that looked decent. I've always been happy with my B&W center. I love Monolith stuff though!

I'm confused about the use for this speaker. I've seen responses that state this is not meant to be used as a center speaker but as a soundbar. However, the main picture shows it under a TV flanked by the OW-1 speakers on either side. This makes it seem like it could be potentially be used as the center channel in such a setup. Otherwise, either would be redundant together. Can it be used as a center or not?

BEST ANSWER: It’s not designed to be used as a center. I am using mine as a LCR setup. Sounds fantastic for what it is. I already had a receiver and am using it as a simple 3.1 setup along with the 8 inch mono price premium subwoofer.

It is designed to be used as a LCR, not a center by itself. It's three distinct wired speakers in one giant box. it sounds awesome, very clear and detailed. I love it.

Yes, it's NOT powered, you need a receiver or pre amp/ amplifier to run it. Again, has no self internal amp whatsoever.

This is a new concept for me - if using this, you could also use other speakers as the rear or mid channels? Advisable or no?

You can, just not enough distance between left center and right to give full surround sound effect

Does this speaker not come with a grille? Other speakers on monoprice give separate dimensions for with and without grille. The dimensions given here don't mention a grille.

Just want to confirm rather or not this was designed to act as your center channel, left and right? if so, there's no need to have front left and front right speakers correct?

It could be used either way. There are 3 terminal so you could wire it as LCR or wire all 3 to a center. My use is LCR. Works nicely.

BEST ANSWER: It’s designed for either, but note this sound bar requires an amplifier for left, right and center speaker connections. I have mine paired with a 12” subwoofer and it sounds amazing.

BEST ANSWER: W 47.2"

D 3.5"
7" may be too high to go in front of many TVs that are on stands. Should work perfectly mounted under a wall-mount TV though. Personally, I'd prefer separate L C R.

Can someone explain what the description means when it says “ can be used as the front, center, or left and right channels in an on‑wall soundbar configuration”? Some answers say it can’t be used as a center when it clearly says it can in the description. What are the three terminals on the back? The presence of the “or” in the description contradicts some of these answers.
Dustin A
on Aug 15, 2022
BEST ANSWER: The terminals are front left, center, front right. There is no option to run all of the drivers from one terminal. The “or “ in the description seems to be a typo.

Will it be very detrimental if used atop my tv stand just under my tv instead of mounting to a wall? I plan on placing some monitor isolation wedges to angle it up a bit as well. Thanks.

The M WO3, I want to use it as a center channel mounted on the wall. The speaker has 3 sets of binding posts, which one I use for center channel only getting a full sound?
A shopper
on Sep 4, 2023
BEST ANSWER: Hello and thank you for your question. Yes, you could use this as a center channel, but if you connect it normal, it would only be the middle set of binding posts, but you would only get the center set of woofers. You could connect all three to get the full spectrum, but you would need to check with your Receiver/Amplifier manufacturer for possible connection options.

Soooo… can I put this inside the wall? I have a brick fireplace with a 6” deep recessed channel above the mantel that runs the width of the fireplace. This would be perfect to sit inside there. Except the channel is about 6.75” tall.
Soon… I don’t suppose these run a little short…

Currently running a soundbar in my family room. The room is an open concept. I would like a bigger soundstage so I can use this as a 3.1 but if I would to run rear speakers can I pair this up with the encore B6 or are there other speakers that pairs better with this?

I plan on using my older Sony STR-DN860 to power it in a 3.1 set up with an 8" sub. I'm trying to figure out if this will sound better or at least just as good in mixed use of TV and music than my other two options, which are active soundbars; Sony HT-A7000 and Samsung HW-Q900C?

Very well made fantastic sound
I had never heard of this type of passive soundbar but did not disappoint. Crystal clear sound, I can hear sounds I could never hear before in movies. Dialoggue is fantastic too. It's a bargain.
