Of course, you could do this with a $35 Chromecast, too. Or free, if you have a newer Vizio with Chromecast functionality built in (as the newer of my two Vizio TVs does).

How does this handle different resolutions? I've never seen VGA output 4K, and many devices output less than 4K. Does this upscale? Does it just pass the original resolution? If it upscales, what level of quality is it?

BEST ANSWER: The device does not upscale. It can pass "up to" 4k meaning the output resolution will be the same as the input resolution unless it is over 4k. And you are correct, VGA can not output a 4k signal.

I have a LG Ultrafine 5k 27in which only does Thunderbolt/USB C output. Will this work in converting the USB C to HDMI for PC? A standard converter will not work. Apparently I need to use a Thunderbolt card or a powered converter.
