Does this device have an actual physical power switch/button on it? I only see one on the remote in the pictures. Might be a deal breaker for me to have a device I can't turn on/off if I lose or break the remote.

BEST ANSWER: There is no external power switch on the device. It is turned on and off via the remote control. I use a powerstrip to turn this unit and all other AV devices on. That way I can control unwanted power drain that these kind of devices produce. This is the best device for the price that I could find. Good Luck... TRE

I have a 4k projector and a 4k tv. I'd like to have 2 different things on them, xbox and 4k firestick at the same time but different pictures. Will this work and will both be in 4k 60hz?
A shopper
on Sep 9, 2020
BEST ANSWER: You should be able to do that. You have two outputs and four inputs. Use one output for projector and one output for the TV. Use one input for the xbox and one input for the firestick. The unit will pass 4K to each output from the different inputs. You could even switch the xbox from the projector to the TV or to both. You could also switch the firestick from the projector to the TV or both. This is a matrix switch and splitter with a little remote control. Have fun.

Yes, provided that both viewing devices are 4K compatible; and you have the 1080p downscale off and the edid switch set to auto. This will allow two different 4K inputs pass through to either or both outputs (so you could put the fire stick or Xbox on both displays, or a different one on each). Provided it’s configured correctly, this will also pass through any audio provided by the input hdmi as well.

I own this device. It DOES have auto-switching. Each output is individually toggle-able to enable auto-switching per output. The auto-switched outputs will switch to the newest input to become active regardless if there is already a signal present on a different input. When your active channel loses a signal the auto-switched outputs will automatically switch another active channel. If no active signal the switcher will just stay on the last input used.

I own this device. Yes you can run two TV's with both of those resolutions. The switcher can be set to down convert a 4k@60Hz signal to 1080p on either of the outputs or both. I would suggest having your 4k TV on channel A as the switcher only clones the EDID from channel A and sometimes that is necessary for HDCP to work on both screens. Also keep in mind that this does NOT convert an HDR signal to SDR in any way. It will pass HDR through to both outputs so HDR video will look correct on your HDR capable screen but on any standard screen the colors will be blown out and crushed on your 1080p screen unless it somehow also has HDR capability.

I own this device. It is only a downscaler. You can pas 4k@60hz HDR to both outputs as well as set either output or both to downscale to 1080p. This device will NOT convert HDR signals to standard dynamic range so keep in mind that if any screen you have connected to this is not HDR capable, any HDR content will look crushed and blown out on that screen regardless of resolution.

BEST ANSWER: Paul, the answer to this is a hard yes. You may have to teach the 650 by doing learning mode. You have to internalize each command from the original remote of the switch to the 650. Hopefully you still have the original manual of the 650 to induce into the learning mode.

Hello,
I am looking at this switcher - for one specific reason - I need to take an audio signal (toslink) from a bunch of HMDI sources into a wireless headphone base (only accepts toslink or RCA). I see that this can extract Audio to toslink - so that is perfect, however I still want the audio signal to ALSO go through the HDMI output (the HDMI will be going to a receiver which drives a surround sound speaker setup). In other words - if I "consume" audio via toslink - does it still also go through the HDMI? I need the audio on both (both toslink and HDMI).
Let me know,
thanks!

I am using this switch with a Sony 4K UBP-X800M2 player and an Onkyo TX-NR708 receiver. I sent one Blackbird 4K 4x2 switcher back to Monoprice thinking that I had a defective unit but the 2nd unit had the identical problem - with the B-output scaled down to 1080p and sent to the receiver via HDMI, I get intermittent drop-out of the audio signal sent to the receiver to decode. It does not happen if I send audio a) via the Toslink/optical output to the receiver, or b) if I send it to the receiver directly via the dedicated audio HDMI from the Sony 4kUHD Blu-ray unit (bypassing the Blackbird 4x2). Have had the receiver more than 10 years without issue until using the Blackbird! Thoughts?

I have two monitors connected for outputs - an 4K monitor(output A) and an 1080p old monitor (output B). On the input side, I have an Apple TV 4K(input 1) and others. As you see, I can set/check the video resolution from Apple TV's setup menu and I found that whenever I connect the old monitor into output B, the resolution automatically changes to 1080p SDR from 4K HDR after blinking once, even though I'm going to watch Apple TV only on output A. I already set the output B to downscale. By the way, if this happens, the option to choose 4K HDR back in Applet TV' setting page disappears. Is this right? Or what should i do to see use my Apple TV on Output A with both monitors connected? Thanks for the help in advance.

I need my 1 output to be 4k HDR 4:4:4 and the other to only transmit audio. Can this switcher do that?

4X2 Switch
It took a while to test it. I had a similar one before and it had problems. This Blackbird 4X2 Matrix works flawlessly, and the way I want it to.

fantastic device but no e-arc support - no DTS-X or Dolby ATMOS audio support :(
I have a 65" OLED and a 120" UST Projector
This device allows me to connect all my sources and output to the screen I want to use (love it!)
I recently got a Samsung Q990C soundbar and realized this device will not support e-Arc output to it. Really sad.
I hope they will bring out a firmware update to support e-arc

Worked for 18 months, then the power brick died
This worked reasonably well - until the power brick died after 18 months. There's no replacement on the website, and I had to hang up on tech support after 60 minutes.
I could never get the kid's Wii working with sound.
Other than that it worked fine.
Note this is for the previous SKU: 139667 but it's the same product.

Solid, works well, stupid LED's, customer service did the right thing...
Nice piece and works really well. It is stupid bright in terms of LED's!!! like really stupid bright... but then like I said it works perfect. I'll also add this, the unit went on sale 2 weeks after I bought it. Even though Monoprice has a 10 day price match policy they honored the new price. So annoying, but good customer service. (If you have a 30 day no-questions return policy, why would you have a 10 day price policy!?!)

Doesn't seem to function correctly.
Mine blinks in and out rapidly before settling. Comes with mounting hardware but doesn't fit in any rack and the remote is pretty poopy.
I should've just sprang for the 4x4 with ip control.

Blackbird 4K or 1080p multi switch with optical out.
Have it hook up to my Xbox series X and PS4 pro. Able to get 5.1 audio for my audio through fiber optics. Very good product and performance.

Thin, powerful and as bright as a Christmas tree.
I replaced a cheap 5 HDMI to 1 switch that claimed 4K but was extremely unreliable and often messed up with the resolution. This one so far is working without any problems. I lost 1 HDMI port but I highly recommend it.
The only con for me is that the LED in front are super bright and extremely distracting at night.

Quick Setup
Very compact and easy setup. Very simple to understand all functions and will use for first time this weekend. During testing of video it worked as advertised.

Finally found something that works for my situation: One X, PS4 Slim, and Switch, going to E9 OLED TV and gaming monitor.
The One X is beautifully shown on the TV, at a crisp 4K resolution and a lively 60 fps, with HDR enabled.
The only issue is that the PS4 was unable to do HDR via the matrix for some odd reason.

Good with some limitations
Works well. I really like the fact that you can manually select the input for each output and there is a clear (if a bit bright) visual indicator light for each. Only downside is when connecting two TVs, you will only be able to select the lowest common resolution. So if you connect a 4k TV and a 1080p TV you can only output 1080p to the 4k TV. This is true even if the lower resolution TV is off. Disconnecting the lower resolution TV?s HDMI cable would be required to get access to the 4k signal.
