Can you fill the speaker stand column with sand?
Brian H
on Jun 6, 2020
BEST ANSWER: With something maybe. It’s not sturdy. The bolt striped when building the stands. I wasn’t using tools. Since then the vibrations from the speaker constantly loosen the one bolt and so the stand falls apart. It’s not a good stand.

Yes you can. But you would not be able to run the speaker wires down the column then. The stands are gorgeous and quite sturdy, especially for the price...

You can only if the sand is in a enclosure. Say a balloon or such. The cable hiding feature would not let sand to just poured into it.

Do the feet/spikes allow for leveling and height adjustment? I'm looking for something to work on an out-of-level floor.
A shopper
on May 15, 2022
BEST ANSWER: They screw in but are not the greatest tolerance so they are not adjustable, 1 of mine doesn't even screw in, it just sits in place. If they did have better tolerance you only would be able to adjust maybe 1/8th to 1/4 inch max.

Yes, it does have cable management via a slot in the top and one in the bottom. Run your cabling in there before you attach the top and bottom just to save some hassle. There will be no chance to add sand or such for stabilization but the jury is still out on the value of that. Please note that these are all black; Monoprice will not fix the picture.

They do. You can snake the wire down the length of the stand until the bottom and then back out the rear.

Can the spikes be removed? I'd like to add rubber feet on the bottom for putting this on a wood floor.
A shopper
on Sep 18, 2023
BEST ANSWER: The spikes are part of the stand's bottom plate however the stands come with rubber "feet" that fit those floor spikes to protect a wood floor...which is exactly how I use them. It is a very good looking and stable set of stands and I highly recommend them. Using the stands with those rubber feet "covers" are an excellent way to use them!

They come with rubber knobs to set them on if I recall. But the tips are screwed on, so you should be able to do whatever you want.

Logic and the picture would dictate that the top plate is smaller. 200mm x 200mm.

Can anyone explain how strap works? Thx.
Chang-Jen L
on Dec 10, 2020
BEST ANSWER: If you mean the big veloco strap, then I believe you just wrap it around the speaker and the top of the stand to help hold the speaker on the stand (like if someone bumps it or something, so it will be less likely to get knocked off).
At least that's how I assumed it was used - and what I did.

Good for the price
I wasn't prepared for quite how flimsy these feel. The vertical portion is a super thin extruded piece that is shored up by a long, thin (1/4"?) rod that you tighten in the base. That said, I appreciate the nice looking glass base, and the spikes are long enough to make it fairly stable with a heavy speaker, even on my thick carpet. I think in the future, I'd probably go for the Monolith ones.

Just what I was looking for...
I wanted to elevate my speakers to improve acoustics. I am glad I found these stands. The only thing I might change is the feet - the default feet are spikes, which would be great on carpet, but with my laminate flooring, I had to employ the silicone covers provided with the stands. The spikes sit on the pads but are not solidly attached.

Nice product, replacement parts is whack though.
The stands are nice and good enough. One of the foot screws has no threads. Monoprice is telling me they can't just send me a new foot screw. I'd have to return the ones I got (which are in use and I recycled the container already) and then they'd send me a whole new one. That seems pretty insane to me.

Cheap - and they feel & look it!
Light weight and flimsy. Not at all impressed. If your speakers are anything other than cheap powered speakers I would not recommend this.

monoprice 28: 22lb max capacity speaker stand
Overall good value;
Pros: Sleek, more stable than it looks, conceals wire
Cons. Pointed feet good for carpet but bad for ceramic or hard floor; plastic feet protect floor but don't hold/attach to base. alternate plastic foot that replace pointed foot better would be better option.

Sturdy and Stylish
These stands are perfect in all aspects because of the height it brings the bookshelf speakers to ear level, they look fantastic, and are very solid. The price is extremely affordable for a pair and it even includes cable management.
