Do you mount speakers to the plate?
A shopper
on Dec 16, 2021
BEST ANSWER: The plate is made of steel and powdercoated. The speaker sits on the plate, like you would place the speaker on a table. The plate mounting screws are countersinked into the plate, so they are just below flush with the surface of the plate, and the speaker sits flat on the plate. There are four black foam stick on pads circular 15mm diameter and 2mm thick included. These can be placed on the metal plate, and you could sit the speaker on the foam pads. I have my Yamaha HS8 monitor sitting on the plate without the pads, and the speakers do not have feet. This is wood to metal contact. The speaker is larger than the plate, with about a 5 cm overhang on each side. My stand is the 32 inches tall model. The speakers have been stable. When I bump into them, bump the stand, or press the switch on the back of the speaker, the speakers sometime move around, but they do not fall off. I hope this information helps you!

The speakers sit on top of the plate. The only holes in the top plate are for the screws that hold it on the stand. There are 4 small non-slip dots to put at the corners of the plate.

No. There are four small foam cushions that stick on top of the metal stand. The speaker just sits on top. My speakers weigh about 25 lbs each. It is a very stable platform.

The stands come with small self-adhesive foam dots to cushion the speakers, but there are no screw holes or similar attachment points.

There is no built-in method for doing so. Speakers are held in place by gravity. I think that's typical for bookshelf speaker stands.

I have a vinal flooring, I don't want to use the spikes, for fear they will pierce the flooring. What would you recommend? place something between the spikes and floor? But what material would be best for this?

Just don't use the spikes. They come detached and in a parts bag so just don't install them onto the stand.

Yes they wood be but you just need to verify the height of the tweeter to your ear height from your listening position. Other than that, excellent stand for the $$. Be sure to use some form of isolation.

How thick is the steel plate holding the speaker? My bookshelf speakers have a unique bolt pattern underneath for mounting, can I easily drill holes in the plate?
A shopper
on Jan 19, 2020
BEST ANSWER: The top steel plate is high quality and durable, between 1-2/16" thick. You'll need a sharp steel bit and a either a drill press (best) or put some muscule down to drill through. Overall, the stand is very sturdy and holds my 13lb KEF speakers wonderfully. Hopefully you can remove the speaker bolts and allow speaker to sit comfortably on the stand. I do have a 2/16' rubber pad under the speaker to eliminate any vibration or slippage of speaker.
Hope this helps

BEST ANSWER: I would imagine the footprint of the speaker would be relevant here, but these are extremely well build I have four children running around mine, never had a spill. I bought load-bearing Velcro straps to wrap my SVS Ultras to these, very stable on rented carpet without the stabilizers installed.

BEST ANSWER: I cant imagine why it wouldn't work. The KEFs have a foot print of approx 8"W x 11"D and weigh about 17lbs each. If you look at the stand's specifications at Monoprice's web site then compare the speaker specs from Crutchfield's web site, nothing obvious jumps out as far as I can see. The stand supposedly holds 50lbs so one of your 17 pound KEF speakers shouldn't be a problem.
Dude, I think you should just go for it. If you don't like it, just return it! What's the prob??? I LOVE mine.

Well suited for the needs
Very happy with product. Sturdy, well designed and built. Cherry color of wood tied in very well with our room decor. My only gripe might be the base plate for folks with hard wood floors. Would have been nice if there was a flatter bottom for one to put a cushion or sliders on. I like to pull my speakers out into a more preferred listening position during critical listening. Anyway, I fabricated some bolt on cushion sliders that worked very well.

They're beautiful, though I had one come in chipped on the bottum that I plan on hiding. It doesn't look like wood inside, it's pretty much just sawdust. Other than that they're great, I am just not willing to wait on another shippment especially this time of year. I NEED MUSIC!
