Pros: -Small and light. About the size of a Galaxy S8 but a little thicker. -Wireless charging can be used while the power bank is being charged. -Two different cable types for charging, USB-C & Micro USB. The most common cable types, easy to borrow if you forget yours. -Three ways to charge other devices, USB-C, USB, and wireless charging. -Matt black textured surface feels nice and the grey ring around the Monoprice logo is rubber to keep your phone from sliding off while wirelessly charging.
Cons: -Wireless charging is slow, limited to 5v 1A. It is capable, but struggles with high capacity devices. My Galaxy S8 gained 20% an hour while charging over wireless. Fine if you are in a pinch, but stick to cable charging if you are in a hurry. -*Nitpicking* The blue status lights are not isolated and bleed into each other. At a glance it can be hard to tell how many lights are on.
Final Thought: I would put this power bank at the level of “Solid Backup.” The 10,000 mAh capacity is a sweet spot. Enough power to share, but light enough that you won’t notice it in a pocket or backpack. While the variety of ports and wireless charging make this extremely versatile, the lack of power output basically limits you to charging one device at a time.
I unfortunately purchased this for $34 right before a price drop. It is now listed for $25 which seems like a much better price point when compared to similar models available. For the price point, fit and finish, and multiple charging options, I give this a full 5 stars. Unfortunately, I have to take a star away for the slow wireless charging.
To be fair, Monoprice states the power output very clearly in the specs section. I knew what I was getting, but I still feel it is a valid criticism of the product.
Suggestions for Monoprice. -Faster wireless charging with two amps being a minimum starting point. I appreciate the small and cheap form factor, but wireless charging is the main selling point of this power bank. One amp over a cable is usable because you can toss it in your backpack and go, or hold it and walk around while its being charged. One amp over wireless is extremely inconvenient because the phone has to sit on the power bank and cannot move.
