Is this an actual USB 2.0 cable or the second revision of a cable? The product name is sort of confusing

BEST ANSWER: These cables are designed primarily for charging. They will charge at 60W or 100W, depending on which variety you buy. That is much greater power than would be carried by a USB 2.0 cable with the original USB connector.
These cables will also carry data, but only at USB 2.0 speeds (480Mb/sec). Thus, they'd be fine for connecting devices that do not need to transfer a lot of data quickly, e.g., mice, keyboards, some medical devices, etc. However, they'd take a long time to transfer large amounts of data, e.g., to back up an internal SSD to a backup external SSD. You'd want a high-speed data cable for that chore. A USB 3.1 Gen 2 capable cable with USB-C connectors can transmit data at 20x the speed of these cables. However, some high-speed data cables will charge at a lower rate than will these cables. Cables that both charge at a high rate and carry data at high speed are going to be much more expensive than these cables.

poor quality, too thin, falls out of devices to be charged
Bought a pair for my Android phone & other devices. Both have casing that is too thin..
I have to continually apply manual pressure to make a charging contact. If the phone is vertical in my vehicle, the cords literally fall out within a minute, completely unusable.
The phone is older which is why I bought new cables. Even new devices I tried them in they are at best intermittent.

As usual from Monoprice, very high quality, sure to outlast at least 3 cheapo cables in daily charging use.

Cable is nice. A bit rigid, but not troublesomely so. Exactly as advertised!
