Is this headset fully compatible with Xbox One?
David B
on Nov 22, 2019
BEST ANSWER: It is not, as unfortunately Microsoft does not allow standard USB Audio devices to work with any Xbox consoles without purchasing an incredibly unreasonable licensing chip. This is not the fault of Monoprice. Because Monoprice's goal is to keep products affordable, they generally omit any licensing add-ons that would increase the price for the consumer.
On the other hand, the PS4 added support for USB Audio Class devices with an update and should already support this headset!

How does the microphone sound? Would these be appropriate for listening to music at work and the occasional conference call?

BEST ANSWER: I've been using these personally and professionally since December. For gaming, they are great, for conference calls, they are awesome and I've even had people comment positively on my voice. Music sounds good, but all of this will be subjective. I would easily buy these again.

I bought these for my son. He loves them, quite comfortable, the mic is good, as is the sound. His only complaint is not being able to use them with his phone. We bought an adapter but it wouldn't work.

Will it work for the PS4?
A shopper
on Nov 22, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes...and no. I bought one of these because I'm always intrigued by Monoprice products, and thought I would give it a try. Since I have a PS4 Pro, I decided to plug it in.
The Good
1. Will you get sound? Yes, and it sounds pretty good. Idk if it sounds as good as my Steelseries Arctis 7, but it's a little punchier in the base department
2. Do the LED's light up? Yes
3. Can you change the colors? Yes
4. To the EQ presets work? Yes
5. Does the volume wheel work? Yes
The Bad
1. Does the Mic work? No, at least not mine...I can hear myself through sidetone in the earcups, so the mic itself functions, but the PS4 won't recognize the sound. If you go to the "adjust microphone level" setting in the PS4, you get nothing, except when you plug the mic in, or unplug it, you will see a spike in input on the screen...but once it's plugged in you get nothing
2. With the mic plugged in I get a slight hum that could be from interference. I'll try it on my laptop and desktop later to see if it is there as well. Goes away completely with the mic unplugged.

Will these work for zoom calls on MacBook?
A shopper
on Sep 13, 2020
BEST ANSWER: It's a gaming headset. That means the mic only sends audio to the left side and there's virtually no way around that without altering the settings in Windows that will ultimately affect something else.
For audio recording and conference calls, find a different headset.

Microphone failure on two sets
The speakers sound great and are very comfortable, however I've tried to get the microphone to work on two different sets and it seems to have a short. I tested the first set on a Windows 10 desktop, Windows 10 laptop, and a Linux laptop, none could get any input except minor static from the microphone. So I RMA'd that set back to Monoprice and a few weeks (way too long IMO) later they sent me a replacement. The replacement set has the same problem. I've tested it on two different Windows 10 desktops and again the most sound I can get from the microphone is a bit of static. This seems to be a quality control issue to me.

Beautiful Sound, Clear Mic
Sometimes, I have to take the headset off to be sure the sound is from them instead of my regular stereo speakers. Great sound.
The mic is clearer than the other mics I use. It has made a difference for all the virtual meetings I hold and in which I participate.

Great audio, mediocre microphone
Sounds really good. Mute button does nothing. Microphone is ok for gaming, but not for work video/audio conferences. Fairly comfortable, can wear for several hours with no fatigue. Do a good job of blocking/reducing ambient noise.

Wanted to love these
I really wanted to like these. Everything came really well packaged, well designed, and the materials are very nice. I found the ear cups fit well for me, and the controls were very nice, if a little too short on the cable.
The real trouble came down to the microphone quality, and then the software. I wanted to first try the headset without any additional software, which is when during test calls I found the microphone gain jumped around and the callers on the other end found me going from very quiet to very loud to not being able to hear me at all in multiple apps.
I then installed the software, despite previous reviews marking issues. I too found the software both did nothing to improve microphone performance, and caused instability on my laptop (Win 10, Lenovo T590). The audio service crashed, apps would lock up when trying to call, etc.
I've since uninstalled the software and asked for an RMA. If the stability and microphone issues could be worked out, these would be a great headset.

Software is a problem
I got 2 headsets hoping my wife and I could both conduct web meetings in the same room. This didn’t work because the microphone picks up both voices. This was not the intended purpose of the headphones so no ding on the score for that - just letting others know. The reason for 3 stars is the software. As soon as I installed the software on my computer I started having numerous problems with these headphones as well as other headphones. I uninstalled the software, but the problems persist. It must have changed settings I cannot find. My wife didn’t I install the software, and her headphones work well. If you don’t install the software they work fine, but you don’t have full functionality without the software.

Great mid-range headset, but has a few issues
Pros:
Overall I love these headphones. They are very comfortable for me to wear for the entire workday, even with glasses on. They are sufficiently padded that I never have any sore spots. Music sounds great, although I freely admit that I am no audiophile, and the microphone is solidly decent. The 'ANC' part of the mic does take out some background noise, at the expense of some depth of your voice. The best comparison I can make for this is that with the ANC on, it sounds like you're talking into a microphone. What I mean is that it clearly is filtering out some variations of your voice and the lower frequencies are obviously being dampened. With the ANC off, you sound like you're in a room with someone. Meaning that much more of the depth of your speech is captured.
That being said, both modes are very clear - everyone has said that they can very easily understand me with both modes. I have even had my kids doing their school Zoom/WebEx/etc... stuff in the same room with me, and no one on my calls can hear them at all.
The LED function is totally unnecessary, and of course totally awesome. :-) I do tend to turn it off for work calls, but having stuff glowing on your head is pretty cool.
The cable itself is wound with braided nylon and works well to avoid kinking and tangling, although it is quite thick. It is also plenty long to reach any PC from a desk. I would guess it's something like 10 feet.
Cons:
The mute function on the in-line control doesn't do anything for me. It sometimes works, and other times doesn't. I just rely on the in-software mute controls for that now.
The software you can download for this headset is terrible. I can tell someone went into some effort to make it, as many of the audio processing it does is quite impressive. You can change your voice much like those voice modulation toys, give an imitation 7.1 surround-sound effect, and customize a lot more. HOWEVER, it is super buggy. It appears to consume enough processing power that when I have the software running it causes my audio to stutter when on a call. Other people have reported that my voice sounds terrible when I have the software running, and as soon as I close it they report I sound fine. I could go on, but if you get these, do not use the included software.
I'm including this last one because I experienced it, but it may not an issue with these headphones. I have found that with certain USB ports of my computer, the audio cuts out for a second or so every few minutes. When it first happened, I assumed it was something to do with my streaming service, but then it started happening with music recorded to my local drive, and it happened with conference calls. I eventually found a port that this no longer occurred on, so I'm just leaving it there. In my internet searching while debugging this, I've found that this is a fairly common problem with USB headphones in general. So this is probably not an issue with these headphones in particular, but it is something to consider if you're thinking of purchasing them.
Overall:
Honestly, I like them a lot. They are clear, light, sound decent, and are priced well. If you don't use the software they'll serve you just fine.

Mediocre Hardware / Bad Software
These headsets are needlessly complicated. The software is prone to crashing, losing settings, or not starting at all. The audio toggles on the headset itself also did not work well, some required mashing the button to engage disengage. We initially deployed these to 40 remote users and have started replacing them due to consistency issues.

Good but not great
I bought these headphones as a Christmas present for my sister. She uses a headset everyday for her job, and she needs good sound quality and microphones quality. I tested these with her as well. At first the microphones quality was just awful, but I realized it had something to do with the software and the ANC mic. When ANC is on it removes all life out of the mic and the audio quality suffers. ANC off sounds much better but there is a low-tone hum that you hear constantly. If I could put Low-Pass filter that would get rid of most of it, but alas I can't do that in this situation. However, if that was the only thing I needed to worry about I would figure out what to do. The deal-breaker and why I'll most likely be returning these, is the software that enables the in-line remote. The software completely sucks. The mic mute button does not work unless this software is installed first off, and when it is installed it only works sporadically. It may mute quick but you may have to click the button a several times before it unmutes. This was a big problem for my sister's job because she needs to be able to do that on the fly, and this was unacceptable. I have tried it on another Windows 10 machine with the same results.
I did just test them on my Mac and they do work but the remote does nothing except for the volume control. The microphone actually sounds better and there is still that low-tone hum, which is makes wish I could put a ground lift in the mix.
I took off 2 stars because of the microphone issues. I like the sound quality (didn't test the 7.1), and the RGB colors.
