Is this price 1 or a pair?
A shopper
on Jun 21, 2021
The price is for one only. I bought on sale for a bit less. They are huge speakers! I'm somewhat disappointed in the up firing Dolby Atmos speakers, but overall I love the sound of these! Having two upfiring Atmos speakers is not the same as several ceiling mounted ones.

How much power can these speakers handle in Watts?

Is that over 200 watts continuous, or over 200 watts peak -or- can you please be more specific if possible. Thank you so much.

50-250W RMS. Given the quality and number of drivers, this is a bit conservative. The Monolith amp at 300 extremely clean watts per channel into 4ohms would be a great match for these towers… I have the monolith and similar 6-driver towers from Axiom (M80 HP’s), and they are a phenomenal combo!

Would these speakers produce enough volume for a 20' by 30' room? And sound good?

BEST ANSWER: Absolutely! I have them in a 32x14 room and volume or sound quality have never been an issue. I enjoy watching movies near reference and they have never sounded strained or pushed. The sound is clean

30' wouldn't begin to challenge volume or quality. I have my 465s on a mid-level Marantz in a 23' room. The quality has never been compromised and volume is a non issue. 30' room won't push their max levels at all. You'll love these speakers. I do! Feel the sound.

The Monolith does an honest 300-375wpc RMS at 4ohms (depending on FTC or EIA measurement method), so this is a fantastic combo… these are hungry towers with a ton of drivers!!

My room is about 1500 cubic feet, 17'x11'x7' would the towers be overkill or should I go with the 365? Also using dual SVS-SB 2000.

on May 15, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Yes. I have a pair of 465's in a room about 3300ft^3. I have another room about your size and they'd be under-utilized in there.
Keep in mind their THX certificationis for rooms in excess of 3000ft^3. Your is about half that. I'm sure the experience would be awesome, but I'd save coin and go with the 365's.

You mean depth. Front to back. I think of width as from the front of the speaker from left to right.

BEST ANSWER: Believe it’s no Monoprice’s policy to compare these speakers with any specific brand of speakers. That said, I believe these speakers would exceed the quality in all respects of brand speakers priced the same or higher.

Semi cheeky question - I plan to use the THX-365C THX with the new Atmos Tower Speakers when they launch in March. I was considering buying the center speaker now, while waiting for the towers to come out - but my worry is if there is a pending revision of the speakers likely to drop that would mean I should wait to get the center at the same time as the towers for the best tonal compatibility?

What's the RMS for this model?
A shopper
on Dec 15, 2021
BEST ANSWER: Power handling is not listed, however, I run these on an amp that puts out 350 watts per channel. These speakers get uncomfortably loud without distortion or breaking up. Keep in mind these are rated for large rooms and unless the speakers are really sensitive, it’ll take a decent amount of power to fill the room. My room is over 3400 ft^3 and opens up to a hallway and stairway. Listening/watching movies at reference is not uncommon for me and these speakers handle it perfectly

Absolute incredible multilayered detail sound. Silky silky silky smooth sound. Music sounds so clean and accurate. Movies sound like I?m literally at the theatre. Look nicer in home than in pics, also bigger than what I was expecting.

Extreme high end speakers for bargain
For the quality and the performance you get from these speakers they are worth double the price. You will be 100% pleased with these, as they give off great sound stage, and balanced tone. For the price you cannot beat them especially when they are on sale.

Good speaker
Great speakers so far. I laughed when I found the white gloves during the unpacking. The monolith line is very good, the are no exception. They give more depth in sound than the sonys they replaced.

BY FAR BEST OF BEST IN ITS PRICE RANGE AND EVEN MUCH HIGHER!
Performance simply astonishing! At the price of this speaker, I was astounded by its outstanding performance in ALL respects. Bass powerful punchy yet clean and smooth. Midrange also doesn?t miss a beat anywhere in between lows and highs. Regarding highs, I?ve learned the vast majority of speakers in this price range and much higher often miss the nuances are many instruments altogether such as the soft touch of a symbol, the unique variations in timber presence in the different horn instruments, organ music, harmonicas?the list goes on and on. NOT this audiophile grade speaker?it never misses accurate replication of the true sound of any instrument including human voices. Are there better speakers? Yes! Are there any better speakers in anywhere close to this price range without literally thousands more per speaker, NO WAY! It?s an A++++ and then some! Strongly recommend consideration among serious buyers even looking to pay well over a thousand more for an audiophile grade speaker!

Awesome towers with great tonality
I am writing this review because as I was looking to upgrade my LR, these were really appealing but I could find only a single meaningful reivew. I understand everyone has different ears, but I find seeing commonalities among other reviewers extremely helpful to set expectations.
When these went on sale I pulled the trigger, knowing I could return them if not pleased at no additional expense to me (shameless plug for freeshipping.com).
Build quality/aesthetics:
These are built like a tank. They are made from HDF. Performing the scientific "knock test" reveals the cabinet density. They're heavy too (57 lbs apiece). The tempered glass base is thick and arrives detached. Once attached, there are two sets of high quality spikes to choose from (carpet and hard surface).
I personally like the look. They're tall (nearly 5 ft) and cyclindrical with a nice wood ash vinyl wrap. The wrap has a "dull shine" that reflects very little light. They do not show finger prints. The grill is made from wood; it doesn't have a cheap, flimsy feel. The magnets are strong, keeping the grill securely in place.
Sound:
One thing that immediately stuck out is bass extension. They don't hit like a sub, but if you are not a bass head and like 2 channel music, I could see some people forgoing a sub. They go down to 29 hz and the bass is smooth and pleasing. It's not boomy or bloated.
The mid range is very good. Because the mids and tweeter sit between the four woofers, the sound integrates well. The fact that the speakers are tall, everything hits at ear level when sitting.
The soft dome tweeter is very smooth. I listen to movies near reference. Even at near reference levels, there is not a hint of harshness. The sound is silky smooth.
Performance:
These sound really good for music and home theater... especially in home theater (duh!). There is a certain sparkle and dynamism these speakers bring to the experience. The theater is set up in a 13x30 room, with LCR on the narrow 13ft side. Since LCR is on the narrow side, it's hard to speak to off axis performance. What I can say is the sound surrounds the listeners. It's different than having sound come directly at you; with these the sound will envelope you.
The only gripe I have is that I'm not getting everything I can from them. I have 7 channels conntected to a 7 channel avr. I'm looking for a 3 channel amp specifically for LCR.
Conclusion:
I love these speaker so much that I hug them every time I go downstairs. Needless to say, I will not be sending them back.
I hope this is helpful for anyone considering these speakers.
