Would a 15 amp circuit be enough power to fully utilize the potential output of this amplifier? I could run my avr, tv etc off another 15 amp circuit. Was thinking it might not be enough and if so, would stick with the 2 12 model
A shopper

My theater has two dedicated 20amp circuits. Because of room limitations and the size of the M-215 I had to put it on the same circuit as four 200 watt power amps and my receiver. I have had absolutely no. problems from an electrical standpoint. This subwoofer is absolutely amazing. I too thought about the M-212 but I am really happy I got the M-215.

When my sub first arrived, I initially just powered it off of an existing 15 amp receptacle that is in my wall. There was no issues powering up whatsoever, but I did run a dedicated 20 amp circuit to it later on. The main reason for doing that, is because I may be adding another subwoofer to that circuit later. Enter an answer to this question.

I have everything pluged into the same circuit and dont have any problems. The sub apparently has very high capacity capacitors so it's not an issue. After you unplug the amp from the wall it will stay on for about 20 seconds before they drain. So again.. not an issue at all. I am getting so much output it's truly unbelievable..

Can this be hooked up with a regular home theater system? I only have RCA style amp outputs and it looks like from the pictures it doesn't support that
A shopper

To hook this sub to your receiver, you need a 'Subwoofer Pre Out" channel or 'XLR input'. The signal from the receiver/ home theater amp has to be un-amplified.

It wouldn’t be worth the hassle, you’d ben running into a lot of power issues for one. That’s just one major issue and there are so many more. I’d stick to car subs, I run dual W7’s JL Audio and there amazing..

Is this amplifier M8250x too much for the following 7.1.4 setup using only Monoprice equipment? THX-465T - L/R Fronts, THX-365C - Center, THX-365T - L/R Surround Sides & L/R Surround Backs, 4x Alpha In-Ceiling 8in with 15 degree Angled Drivers Product # 34198 (Atmos), M-215 subs. Because the HTP-1 is out of stock until June, 2023 I might have to pick up the Arcam AV41 to throw into this Monoprice exclusive setup. I already have the speakers. I need the correct powered equipment to push them.

Not at all. I use this amp to drive Goldenear SuperCinema X sound bar for front 3 and SuperSat 3s for surround and Atmos. It is PERFECT. It's clean and powerful with great dynamic range. It VANISHES in the background. But if you want to know output you can expect, search for "Peak SPL Calculator" and input the data. It will give you a good representation of what sound pressure level you'll achieve with this amp and those speakers.

Afraid I don't have any experience with those speakers but the amp definitely puts out (mine at least) the full advertised power. It may even be a bit conservative. I have it running front wide and 6 heights (7x running the other 7 base layer). I can also say that it blends quite well with the 7x despite being a "class D"... and it's a LOT lighter LOL

Does anyone else notice an odd noise from the sub when it’s not playing anything? Whether I have an input connected or not when the amp first turns on I hear what I can only describe as a faint almost squealing noise coming from the drivers. It does seem to go away after a couple minutes of being turned on. Still seems odd.

I believe the question asked for the MAXIMUM SPL, basically what decibels at 2000 watts, not the output of 1 watt at 1 or 2 meters. I may have to re-ask the question for Marc C if Monoprice does not monitor the Q&A's.

The sub has a built in amp on it. It does not matter the plug in only has 1500 watts. The amp will make more for it. Amps is the only thing that matters.

I agree AND disagree with the last answer. The KR9600 does have pre-amp outputs, but those are PRE-AMP. Which is why they don't work to feed a sub. They are full volume all the time, not controlled by the AMP.

Well its double the power for 2 woofers so it evens out. That being said many reviews have shown REW graphs that have it putting out 100db at 10hz and even more at higher hz. The 14hz is just the marketed response in its extended eq

I just put the m215 in my basement which was quite an undertaking. I have a monolith 15 connected to my reciever via LFE cable, and ran a XLR cable from the single 15 to the dual. The single turns on and led lights green, the dual 15 doesn't seem to be getting the signal to turn on. Any help or troubleshooting steps I can try?

BEST ANSWER: Sometimes the obvious escapes me when I am working on my home theater system. Make sure the switching on the back of the subwoofer is where you want it I.e. the power switch is in auto.. The next thing I would try is to take the single 15 out of the circuit and run the LFE cable from the receiver straight to the m215. That is how mine is set up and it works great. I have not used the XLR connections but I am thinking that if the single 15 doesn’t get an XLR signal in, it doesn’t pass one out. If the LFE cable works, then you can run a cable from the receiver to your 15 and split the input with an RCA cable y connector and run another RCA cable to the m215. Many of todays receivers have two LFE outputs on the back which is even better.

I believe that if you are going to use XLR you have to use it from the source in order to pass it through to the next sub via XLR. I have duel M215's and used LFE cables for both and it's working great for me.

Can you lay them on their sides?
A shopper
on Sep 30, 2024
Yes, mine is laying on its side with the port closest to the room center, away from the wall. My projector screen needs to be moved slightly. This box standing vertically just overlaps my screen position, and blocks an electrical outlet. Honestly, it would probably be a bit distracting standing vertically in the front sound stage, given its size . Laying the speaker on its side, allowed me to place it under the projector screen and not block the electrical outlet. I hope in the future to build some stadium type seating and place this box in the rear of the room and under the seating area.

Great sub, great customer service.
I wanted to jump on here and write a quick review on how great of an experience I have had with Monoprice's customer service. I read that there was sometimes an issue with these subs amplifiers failing and I went ahead and bought it anyway. Well I was one of the lucky ones to also have an issue with the amplifier. I suspect I'm in a minority of people who have issues. However, Monoprice's customer service was an excellent experience. They helped with troubleshooting possibilities, but at the end of the day none of them worked and they replaced it without any trouble.
I would recommend saving the box in case this happens to you, finding a box to ship it back in is quite a challenge. And it is quite a challenge to get this thing moved around and returned (its around 200lb).
But overall I'm very appreciative to Monoprice and their customer service for helping me solve this issue. Despite the difficulty I've had with the sub, I wouldn't hesitate buying from them again or recommending them to my friends.
Also, this sub rattled my walls so hard my Ecobee thermostat upstairs dislodged from its base. I think I am at my end game.

There is NOTHING better for less! That's a fact!
This outperforms the 16" THX sub above 20Hz and way better below 20Hz and has a smaller footprint. Unless you were going to put something above the sub, which I cannot imagine what, this IS THE ONE! I recently upgraded from a SVS PB-1000 Pro to this M-215 Dual 15in THX sub. I luv it! Never have I spent money better, lol! This sub was a HUGE improvement, I went from entry to endgame!
These guys are pushing the envelope on lowering the price with mass production and efficiency! All the stuff I bought is objectively great THX Ultra certified (which means rated for 3000 cubic ft space) and nothing else is anywhere near these low prices! I don't have a nice house with a dedicated room... only 5.1 in my old house... Now since I upgraded 5.1.4 ALL Monolith THX Ultra Certified.
I read a lot about their customer service... saw Youtube video about some fool saying he had to keep sending this beast back, which would be a pita! But that guy is a fool... He is cranking the subs with a 12.5Hz test tone, which is below our hearing and then complaining about some noise, which is dumb. Using the sub normally with real content, you wouldn't hear it, so who cares. ALL Ported subs will make port noise if cranked near their tuning freq with below audible test tone.
My point is I placed 3 separate orders:
1. M-215 sub
2. THX-365C (Center channel)
3. 4 THX-365 Mini-towers & 4 28" easel stands
One of the speakers was dinged and had to send back, everything else was perfect, shit happens. Their CS was fine... got booted of a chat and had to start over, that's annoying. They sent emails that gave instructions that were a little off, annoying, but it wasn't that bad. Open notepad on your PC and copy all info in there... EVERYTHING... so you don't need to type it over and over whenever doing chat with any company and you can copy and paste.
Anyway, I sent them a pic of the damage at the guy's request... Email wouldn't go through... he gave me a link, upload it here... Again, this is life in the Internet age, nothing works right, lol. He sent me an email with a return label.
These were easy to unbox carefully, and I keep ALL the boxes, so it was easy to put back in the box... dropped it off at FedEx store... day later they saw it was on the way and shipped me another one. ALL 4 times my order showed up in 3 days! Maybe I'm just close, but that's impressive right there. If you are not rich Monolith IS THE WAY! I am 100% happy and recommend!

Thr best home subs!
The best loudest home audio I've ever heard. Love it. It's loud at 200 foot away.

Impressive
Absolutely love this sub. Delivers studio quality bass for my remix studio.
It's certainly not small.
Comes well packaged and well made.
Great job Monoprice

So far I like the sub a lot. It noticeably increased the level of subsonic effects to my movies. I've got two other 12" subs that are good to about 16 Hz. It measures good to around 14 Hz. It is a very large and heavy object, so finding space in the theater was a bit of a challenge. I'd suggest using 4 people and a heavy wheeled dolly to move it. It should also be carefully calibrated so that it doesn't interfere with other subs or cause major issues with room modes.

Absolutely incredible
Delivered to my front door with box in perfect condition on pallet. Easy to maneuver with hand truck once unpacked. Powered up and the bass is amazing. After a couple of weeks of use the sound became more natural. It does have an audible double-click plastic sound from inside the cabinet a few seconds after every power up, which I suspect is a relay to prevent a power-up thump - so I don't mind. I calibrated it with the Audyssey setup on my receiver with no problems. It blends perfectly with my speakers and makes everything sound so much better - clarity, musical depth, sound stage, and realism. It is the best addition to my system ever! Thanks!

Unbelievable
This has to be the best subwoofer for the money I've ever seen.
Hits hard- clean - looks beautifully menacing - and is the envy of all my friends.
Funny- you could buy a single Klipsch 12" Subwoofer- or THIS ????????????????????????

An End Game Subwoofer
Wow, this thing hits. Obviously it can get super loud with a 2000 watt RMS amp, but this sub is so immersive. No other listening experience is complete without my M-215. If you love bass, don't even think twice. When all is said and done, it'll be a top 2 investment you make for your setup.

Amazing bass from a Tower of Power from a Juggernaut!
This is a Juggernaut of bass. Honestly it may be too much for some. And possibly too much for me. But if you like a lot of unbridled, clean thumping bass that pressurizes the room, accept no substitutes.

Great output when the input signal is boosted
This is a beast you don't want to have to send back.
I think this sub looked better in real life, versus the product pictures.
I did my initial testing and found I could not get enough output with my processor's gain maxed and the sub gain maxed. I had to turn my processor way up in order to get good output, so it turns out there was a problem with the input gain. I wanted to swap out the amp rather than return it, but that wasn't an option. It's really a shame because it's not good for the company or the customer. These are not easy to pack back up. I hope Monoprice changes its ways on dealing with component problems and allows customers (that are willing and able) to swap out components when there are problems. Sadly I returned the sub because I didn't want to possibly go through another return if something was wrong with a replacement.
