How does the ashes get into the ash can?
Does this have a one touch type system like the Weber

BEST ANSWER: The bottom of this grill has some half dollar size holes on the bottom of the kettle. You have to push any extra ash that didn't make it into the collector. The collector does slide into a mounting plate for easy removal. The dampers are located on the side of the collector.

It just has holes between the base and the receptacle. There is no method to sweep them in.

Is there anything to hold the bottom grate (the coal grate) in place, or for it to rest on? We purchased one of these and assembled it, and the bottom grate just seems to "float" in place, with no brackets or bolts to rest on. So, when you pour coals in, it moves around, which strikes me as a safety hazard. We had no leftover pieces after assembly other than an extra washer, so I'm not sure if we're missing a part or if this is just a terrible design flaw.

BEST ANSWER: That's a design flaw. I found a package of 4 magnets at Walmart and put them inside the grill under the grate. They are working OK right now.

All three of the ones that show the pan. There is a silver sliding bracket on both sides.

Not a bad looking grill - Solid
Ok, I bought this grill a while ago, and just put it together last night, and it is scary that I received an e-mail today for a review!! Anyway, construction was not hard, but wasn't easy either! There are no directions, just a diagram of where all the nuts and bolts go. If you take your time, it won't be too difficult! Now, as far as the looks go, this grill is pretty! I must say that I put it together very solidly. I haven't fired it up yet and plan on doing the first burn off at a later date. Overall on appearance and feel(stability) I give it a thumbs up! I looked at grills that this is based off of and I don't see much of a difference other than price!
One other gripe, the nuts and bolts are thrown in a bag and you have to pick through them to find the right match! But patience is key! I recommend this grill.

The grill works well, maybe not as airtight as a Weber but is well made. While the grill is good, the instructions for building it are not. Hard to follow and sometimes requiring it be taken apart and redone.

After 20 cooks!
For the price this grill is excellent! Holds temps well, and easy to control the heat, even though the lid feels to be made of lighter gage. The charcoal area dimension will not allow for a slow n sear and that?s why I gave it 4 stars. All in all it works really well.

A decent grill at a good price.
This grill is working well for me, and I got it for a great price. For the price, it compares well with my Weber grill. The metal thickness and materials seem comparable.
However, their are some negatives buyers should be aware of.
First off- Assembly is a challenge. The included instructions are pathetic. You get a diagram showing generally where the parts go, but it does not specify all the nuts and bolts, and provides no text explaining order or anything of that sort. Assembly required is significant, and I had to take parts apart several times to reassemble as I put more pieces together and found I had made a mistake or needed to do things in a different order.
Once assembled, the fit of the parts is not really ideal. It does not seem to significantly hinder performance, though. It would be better to have tighter control over air flow.
Overall, for the price I am pleased with this grill, now that I finally have it assembled.

Ok, but it isn't a Weber unfortunately
I bought 2 of these grills when they clearances out hoping that they would be a cheaper potentially better version of the weber original kettle style grill. The built in ash collector is a plus, but there are some glaring issues with the grill that hold it back from being really spectacular. Notably, the damper system needs improvement. The bottom dampers don't seal up particularly well, and since they are located on the ash collector...they will always leak air. The way the ash collector mounts to the bottom of the grill let's air get in, you don't always want that if you want to slow roast or smoke something for a few hours. The top damper is located at the very top of the grill and isn't offset. This also makes smoking things more difficult because you cannot steep the smoke over the food while it crosses the grill to exit. It just takes the path of least resistance...which is up and away from the food. The lid and the bottom don't seal very well. Leaking heat and flavor.
