I'm looking to run 12AWG in the walls and thru brushed wall plates straight to my speakers. Is this wire flexible enough in 12 gauge that I can route it cleanly outside of the walls? In one area, I might plan to run it along the baseboard and do a 90 degree turn after securing it with a fastener. Just want to determine how realistic this is. Thanks!

BEST ANSWER: The cable is definitely flexible enough to make a 90° bend. You might have to play with it a little and get the two wires to lay flat against the wall to get the bend perfect. The stranding is very fine so I'm not at all worried about breakage. It is a little bit thicker than phone cable though so it's not gonna disappear as well.

Yes. I concealed all speaker runs. The rear channel runs were done by taking the baseboards off, run along the wall then up between the studs, and out the sheet rock. The wires were quite flexible, and the fact there in a jacket or sleeve made it easier to run.

The white outer jacket is flexible and relatively loose around the two conductors. This allows the two conductors to be next to each other making it possible to bend on a very tight radius. 90 degrees probably isn't great for the conductors, but can be done.

Yes, it should work for you in the walls. The bend radius is about 2 inches (from my memory). It is high quality wire IMHO and is much better than that "clear stuff".

The wire is very flexible, you should have no problem installing it as you want. The jacket on the wire is not tightly bound to the red/black wire inside the cover.

Please be careful with following building codes. Are you jacketing the cable? What protection from inadvertent drilling/poking. 'Just asking.

Can banana connectors be used with the 12 guage wire?
A shopper

BEST ANSWER: Yes. After tightly twisting the bare copper ends, this will fit perfectly into Monoprice's banana jacks (if there are set screws in said jacks remember to back them off first).

Most of the time shielding is not necessary with speaker wire, unless you live next door to a powerful radio station.

This is GREAT in-wall/attic speaker wire that should be good for up to about 120 feet when used with 8 ohm speakers. For outdoor use, though, you should probably place it in conduit to protect it from sunlight and other external weather conditions.

Is this plenum rated?
A shopper
on May 8, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your inquiry. This is not a plenum-rated cable. This is a CL-2 fire-rated cable. The main difference between CL2 rated and plenum rated cables is their intended use and fire safety characteristics. CL2 rated cables are suitable for in-wall installations and have a specific voltage surge protection, while plenum rated cables are designed for use in areas with air circulation and have special insulation and jacketing to minimize smoke and fire hazards.

Can this speaker cable be used for marine applications? (i.e. use to connect speakers in my boat?)
A shopper
on Jul 5, 2021
BEST ANSWER: Yes... I used this cable for a 70 volt PA speaker 200 feet away. It is rugged and very high quality. Good luck with your project. Remember two 8 ohm speakers in parallel, reduces the load down to 4 ohms. If your amplifier output is 8 ohms, stick to 8 ohms.

Great wire both in and out of the wall.
This is good wire from its' materials of construction, to sound quality, to ease of use. Pure copper is a little trick to find at a good price and this wire checks those, and many more, boxes. Ease of use lend itself to the excellent flexibility and the wire's resistance to breaking from either bending or stripping. Shipped to you on a very sturdy wood spool.

Home theatre in New home
Excellent wire and was delivered with in a few days at a very reasonable price. Used my laser and a rod to hold the reel and pull my wires through.
Ready for insulation and dry wall on home movie theater
Have klisph R27 speakers with atmos and a Denon 4700 amp that will blow the room out. Wire is a great match
