Does this SS2V70 do impedance matching?
A shopper
on Nov 7, 2019
Please note, this device is designed to work on 70 volt mono commercial systems therefore it does not match impedance but rather it maintains a consistent voltage between 70 volt speakers and amplifiers, it is not designed to work with stereo systems that require impedance matching!
The Monoprice SSVC-4.1 is better match for that and does have speaker impedance matching protection.
Good Luck, Mr. Wizard, A/V Engineer

Don't you need twice as many connections? Like, the left and right speaker each need a + and -, right? I don't understand how this would work. A photo of it plugged in would help.

BEST ANSWER: you are correct, there are lots of connections. I use my unit to balance the outdoor speakers and the indoor speakers being driven by the same mono amplifier. It's also very important to point out this unit is to be used with a 70 V commercial audio system. This is not intended to be used with an 8 ohm output of an amplifier.

This is 70v not 8 ohm. 70v is mono.. = - to the first speaker and then daisy chain the speakers

I have a Behringer Xenyx 802 mixer. How do I connect the mixer to this amp? My Main Outs are TRS.

This is not an amplifier. It is for controlling two rooms or zones using an amplifier set up for mono 70V speaker output.

Will this work with the 125 watt Sonos amp?
A shopper
on Jan 14, 2024
BEST ANSWER: Hello, the answer to your question is No, the SS2V70 will NOT work with the Sonos 125 watt amp. The SS2V70 is for use in commercial 70 volt MONO systems only. The Sonos 125 watt amplifier is a 4-8 ohm STEREO amplifier.
However the Monoprice SSVC 4.1 will work with that amplifier and has speaker impedance matching protection.
The Monoprice MSV-2 or MSV-4 will also work if you need to A/B two different amplifier sources.
Make certain to follow instructions matching impedance's and polarity and these will work great.
Thanks for the question, Mr. Wizard, A/V Engineer

This will "work" with your 125W Sonos amp, however, prolonged use at maximum output from the amp could cause premature failure. I would advise caution and monitor your power output.
Failure will damage the unit, but should not be a safety (fire) risk.

This product is well made and works exactly as expected. It should be noted that this device is for use in 70 volt mono commercial systems only, not for use in stereo applications.

70 volt distribution
Nice for the price. However, there is no indicator marking for the volume knob and the finish scratches too easily.
