Do I need to connect the amp input on the switch to two speaker outputs on my receiver? I'm currently only getting sound from 2 out of 4 speakers.

Yes, you'll need to connect the input on the switch to both a Right and Left output from the amp (should be 4 wires total, a +/- for each).

There should be 4 wires from receiver to switch: L+/- & R+/-. Then 16 wires going to 4 speakers.

Because this switch has impedance matching, do the volume controls after this switch need to be impedance matching also?

Will this work in the opposite way - connect / switch between two amps to one set of speakers?

BEST ANSWER: No it’s not possible to do that unless you run 1 amp to 1 speaker and the 2nd amp to the other speaker.

BEST ANSWER: It has padded feet to keep it from sliding on a shelf (or on top of other equipment) but it is not designed to rack mount.

Can you have multiple speakers selected at the same time?
Rob D

BEST ANSWER: you can...be careful as it will drive more of the amp power and you could clip the amp.

Hi, Hope all is well. My goal is to connect two 8ohm center channel speakers to my AV Receiver. Can I wire from the center speaker terminal from the receiver to just the left terminal input of the selector(for example), then connect both center channel speakers to Zone 1 left and Zone 1 right output? And will they remain at 8 ohms? thanks, Antoine

If the 100watts is max RMS power handling, what is the peak power handling short term? Does this have a protection switch to increase power handling? Thank you!

Can I use this with in wall impedance matching volume control switches? I don’t need impedance matching speaker selector as my in wall volume controller dos the impedance matching.

Fit the bill almost perfectly
After years and years, I finally finished connecting my outdoor speakers by adding this to my system. I ordered the SS-4 and it arrived within a few days. Another few days and I finally got around to installing it. It was a snap to install. Another few days later and I installed my outdoor speakers. I turned on my system and tested the switch out - it worked and on the first try (that's a knock on my usual project outcome). My only complaint is that I should have bought the unit with the volume control. I have a long speaker wire run (50 ft. or so but used 12 ga. wire) and there is a significant volume difference between the speakers on the different switches. I'm guessing with the volume control I could address that. Overall though I am very pleased with the quality of the unit, ease of install and that my receiver does not seem affected by the added load.
