How do you wash this? Can you use a dishwasher?

BEST ANSWER: You can hand-wash and dry the metal probe section as that is the part that will make contact with meats, etc. and will need to be cleaned however I would not suggest getting any other parts of this device wet as it will probably affect it's functioning. Definitely don't put it in the dishwasher.

You shouldn't need to wash the body of the thermometer. Maybe a damp paper towel or something to wipe it off. For the probe, I open it all the way, run it under hot water, clean it with a dry soapy sponge, rinse it, dry it, fold it back up.

Definitely cant sue a dishwasher. We use hot water and dish soap for the probe (metal piece) with unit turned off. We use the cable type ones for leave in cooks like oven or bbq.

Would not be a good idea to put in a dishwasher since it's electronic. Only the probe gets in contact with the food so just wipe it off or rinse the tip under water after use.

It is not dishwasher safe. You simply wipe off the metal probe part with a soapy cloth/sponge and then rinse and dry.

is the battery access sturdy enough to open and close more than once or twice? I've had two, that after two changes, the access door slot strips and thermometer is rendered useless.

BEST ANSWER: I couldn't say. I've never had to change the battery yet, but I have had success using a challenge coin or a nickel to open other devices. I will say that this thermometer has outlasted others I've purchased off Amazon for similar pricing.

Dead on arrival. And because this was a holiday gift, the 30 day warranty had already expired.

Well calibrated
Tested right out of the box, it's dialed in really well! Quality seems cheap but hey, get what you pay for.

Best thermometer going.
This is the best digital thermometer that I have found. The magnet on it keeps it handy. Very quick read. I think I am going to gift a few of these.

Solid, convenient, inexpensive thermometer
While this is no Thermapen, it also is not $80.
It works, it has a light to read the temp (great for the grill when it is dark), it is cheap. Really no excuse not to own a great tool for cooking.
