Can the work surface be switched to one of a larger area?
A shopper
on Aug 21, 2021
BEST ANSWER: The answer to this question is “yes, but”. The base is heavy enough to keep the balance but only within reasonable limits. It would be simple enough to drill a larger table top, or clamp something on, but keeping within balance and weight limits would be key. Not difficult but would take some planning.
My guess is that a larger top might void the warranty. Can you? Yes easily. Should you? Maybe.

Technically, yes. I swapped the work surface to a wooden one that matched my other desks, although the new surface is slightly smaller than the original.
This desk appears to be the same base hardware as a Vivo single column model and they sell a version with a 4 by 2 foot desk surface.

You could, but I would not recommend it. I have mine on Berber (very flat) carpet, and it rocks around way too much. Also the up down controls have a limited cable length.

Yes. the top just screws in with wood screws, which in my case stripped the predrilled holes instantly. Put any top on you want.

How stable is this when extended? I need something that doesn't wobble.
A shopper
on Nov 5, 2019
BEST ANSWER: With this desk extended to 4 feet high, it is stable, with no wobble. It is well made, and very sturdy.
I extended it to almost full height, and it was a little wobbly, but stable enough for doing work on a laptop.

It won't wobble. The base is a lot heavier then you may expect. As long as you level the base initially, extending it will not cause any base instability.

It’s about 100 Lbs. the base is powder coated plate steel. The actuator bolts into it. It’s surprisingly stable, even on my short pile carpet. That very large base weight is the reason.

Does it remember the saved height presets if it is unplugged/loses power for any reason?

BEST ANSWER: Hi, saved presets should still be stored, for example switching off a surge protector it is plugged into doesn't erase it even after a weekend. Hope this helps. Thanks.

Could the feet be swapped for casters so I could roll it out of the way?
A shopper
on Feb 25, 2021
BEST ANSWER: The metal base has corners with a radius about 1.5 to 2". The base is a thick (heavy) metal plate that is flat on bottom with four machine threaded holes; one in each corner, set back about 2". It measures 19.25x19.25" square.
The provided feet merely screw into the base. If you are mechanically inclined, I suppose you could swap for casters, but note that the base is only 19.25 x 19.25" (the top is 23.75" square) and the screw holes (one per corner) are only about 16" x 16" apart, switching to casters would probably make it too easily tipped over. It'll be even more tippy with swiveling casters where the floor contact point could make 16x16" screw spacing as small as 13x13" due to the "lead" on a 4" caster wheel.
I guess you could mitigate tipping over by screwing it to a larger plywood base.
but yeah, it is pretty heavy all by itself due to that thick and heavy steel base plate.

I guess this is less of a question than a comment... Careful review of all photos, including the one with it free-standing in the middle of a room, and the side-view drawing, show no sign of the fact that it has to be plugged in. A bit more authenticity might be in order?

Quality nosedive
Appears to M10 15mm feet in case anyone is wondering if they can sub in casters. But it's the very cheap implementation of welding M10 bolts onto the base. Which in my case meant that two were impossibly tilted and you couldn't get your base flat no matter what foot you used. Also the sawdust (melamine is too optimistic a term) top is screwed into the motor pedestal with tiny and short screws. Meaning you have a real chance of just making them spin in the sawdust, and not getting a solid connection, even using only hand tools. The base and the pedestal, as well as the motor, are good parts. It's too bad they potentially (and in my case, certainly) created an inadequate product skimping on screws, welding, and a sawdust desktop.

Great desk. Easy to assemble
Exactly what I was looking for. Very sturdy (a lot heavier than I expected it to be) and easy to assemble.
I wish it came with wheels though!!

Excellent build quality
The quality and sturdiness are excellent. It was very easy to assemble solo (although I believe the instructions recommend getting a second person to help when flipping over the table). Recommended!

More impressive than I imagined
This desk is a beast, it holds up to the 110lb challenge (and then some). And, it zips up and down smoothly and rapidly.
Took me 30 minutes to setup, super simple from cutting the box open to using the electric motor features for the first time! And no, it's not a 2 person job as the box claims! One person is plenty, though YMMV!
I've had this in use for 3 days now and love it! I should be cautiously optimistic however, as the durability of the desk matters too. I'll update the review if anything goes south. If not, assume all is well, or the desk fell on me ;) ... j/k
Well worth the money for a little workstation. I put a Chief Kontour K1C120 with a single arm so far, for my XDR (vesa mounted) Apple Display. Then I strapped a Chief pole mount to the side for my microphone with a 3 part arm. And I put my 1st Gen Surface Studio on top! I type with a keyboard on my lap tray when sitting. When standing I have another arm to hold my keyboard, or I turn the studio up and use the space in front of it (not much, but this is a small desk consider what all I have on here ;) ) ... anyways, it's great so far!
Great job MP (and ultimately, whatever brand was white labeled -- I assume that's the case).

it works
First off, be prepared for it's weight. It is a bit heavy but one person can handle it. But it does work quite well. Has the hardware and tools there to assemble it. I like that you are given chooses as to which side you want the base so some planning is involved. Good purchase. Haven't had any issues with Monoprice stuff yet. Thanks

A little wobby, but easy to setup and use
It's a little wobbly. I can't put my large 30" monitor on it AND my keyboard. typing causes the whole thing to wobble about enough that I can't focus on or read the monitor. It might have something to do with the fact that I'm on carpet and not a solid (wood, cement) floor. but the amount of wobble required to make things unreadable is pretty small. A laptop on top would probably be fine (you're closer, wobblyness reduced without a long necked monitor stand).
That said, it's super easy to assemble, no power tools required.
Controls (up/down arrow) are very simple and intuitive.
