Does it take full 1-KG filament rolls or just 500 gram rolls?

This printer would hold our 500 G and 1KG spools.

I have used 1k spools from Colorfab, Hatchbox, and SainSmart and they all work fine. It is a bit tricky to fit them in and you need to ensure the bracket that holds the filament is fully seated in the slot on the side of the case. Once seated properly I have had no printing issues, jams, layer shifts, etc, with any of my 1k spools.

From what I can tell it condenses a few of the menus and makes navigation cleaner on the printer. I was not able to find release notes.
For me it also broke USB printing and requires that I manually run the auto bed level routine before each print, otherwise it will start trying to print ~1cm off the print bed. I would not recommend installing the update at this time based on my experience.

I have the same issue. I updated to the new firmware 2.02 and now it is trying to print about ~1cm. Auto bed leveling doesn't seem to help for me...

Has anyone had problems removing the raft from the prints? The raft design seems a little different than before and is hard to remove.

BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question. This can be corrected by adjust the air gap between the raft and the print. This can be found in the "Slice Settings" button if you are using WiiBuilder under the Build Plate Adhesion Tab.

They list 100-400 microns as the layer resolution... Is there an apparent reason for the decrease from v1? The Z accuracy is seemingly more than sufficient for the same 20 microns that I've printed on the v1 and difficulty of tuning aside the only other issue I could imagine is if the bed leveling is not precise enough. Anyone have experience to say what resolution you can actually get and/or why not higher?

Don't compare v1 to v2 as they are completely different printers and even totally different brands. So whule v1 may have been able to do something v2 is an entirely new animal. It may be able to accomplish similar things but there is nothing here that came from v1.

Yes absolutely. The tube is not a Bowden tube, even though it looks like one. Its only purpose is to guide the filament from the spool to the extruder. The extruder is directly on top of the hot end with no Bowden tube in the filament feed path between the extruder and hot end.

Yes it absolutely can be used with Cura v4. You just need to do some messing around in the settings. I can get more in-depth later but basically go into Cura 3.3 and go to the printer settings and copy the start and end Gcode from there. Create a new printer in Cura v4 and enter ALL of the settings from Cura 3.3 into here. This includes the start and end Gcode as well as all the other settings on that screen. Make sure they match in the new Cura. This is how I have been printing since day 1 with this printer with no big issues. I did run into issues controlling the hot end and heated bed but that happened in 3.3 as well.

does the printer take 2kg spools?
A shopper
on Apr 27, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Maybe, but will have to have the “short” inner diameter lengths. I the holder is only about 2.1” long and Bends up at end to keep spook close to wall. Some of my spools are 3” but have a shorter section in the ID and still work. Still it’s the worst thing about this machine but still a good printer. Buy something else if you want to do a lot of flex

Just curious what the best way to print higher temp filaments is? I keep getting a "THERMAL RUNAWAY" message. Thanks! God bless
A shopper
on Oct 23, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Honestly this is not a good printer for anything beyond about 230c. You might be able to get ABS to work if you can find one that uses a lower temperature but for the most part this means PLA and TPU work well on here. However when you get anywhere near even 240c you will hit the thermal runaway most likely. This is because when the printer heats the head up it heats it further than you set and then lets the temp drop. So your 240c is likely hitting near 250c on heat up. It can even happen at a little lower temps. Never had a problem with 220c and below though.

I have managed to get this printer working just fine with Cura 4.4, but the default bed PID values cause the bed to heat very slowly. What should the bed PID values be? I can set them in the startup gcode if I know what they should be.

Customer Service Sucks
Printer Worked OK, One of the axis broke on our first printer and Customer Support Replaced it no problem. But after a year an Axis bracket broke again while we were replacing the filament (following Manufacturer Directions) but since it was out of warranty customer support did nothing to help the problem and will not even sell us a new axis bracket to fix it. Beware of problems when the warranty runs out cause then your completely on your own.

We LOVE this printer!
It is EASY to set up....the directions are useless but the youtube videos you can find are useful! It has printed EVERYTHING except one item so far PERFECTLY! We are not designers by any means. We are downloading the STL files and SLICING them in the software the printer came with and are LOVING our prints! We HIGHLY recommend this printer!

I wanted to love this printer
I really wanted to love this printer. It does everything I want a 3D printer to do. But it just won't let me. I bought it as an upgrade to the MP Select Mini. The first Ultimate 2 had a z-axis problem. Customer service was great. I packed it up. They sent a new one. The second one got crushed in transit. Again, customer service was great and I am on machine #3. This one had a broken bracket on the y-axis, but we glued it and it seemed to hold. Except, tonight in the middle of an important print it gave out again. I guess the karma isn't right for me with this machine. I hope you have better luck, but I just can't rely on this model. I am back to searching for a new reliable enclosed 3D printer.

Great printer
My first 3d printer. I decided on this one after studying it for awhile. I don't know squat about 3d printing. I am teaching myself and watching YouTube. I use the wiibuilder software for slicing. I have had zero problems with the printing. I am 66 years old learning the software and cad program 8s going to be the hardest. Also learning about the printer profiles and what all the settings do. But hey I got time. This is a great printer for me and would recommend it for someone else for the price. I have alot to learn no doubt.

Almost Great
This is a really good printer. It's durable, decently fast, easy to use. However, the design I feel doesn't do the best when printing high temp parts and the bed levelling can be finnicky at times but its not the price of an Ultimaker or Prusa Mk3 so keep that in mind.

Auto bed leveling is completely busted
The auto bed leveling feature does not work at all in the current firmware (2.2.8). For $550 I'd would have expected one of the biggest selling points to work out of the box. Incredibly disappointed.

Good Printer, but flaws keep it from being great
So far I am very happy with the printer, however, I have already had a part failure before I got through one full spool.
The filament sensor failed. Mono sent me out a replacement and after installing it I looked at the old one and was shocked. The filament had started to cut through the housing of the sensor. See Photo, and again I have not run a full spool through it yet.

Nightmare to setup, Lots of work to be done firmware side
The printer, when working, prints okay. However, I had to jump through hurdle after hurdle to get it working. Due to bad design, the printer's "home" is in the back corner and with the bed completely down. Cura assumes that the bed is all the way up (which is the case with almost every other printer) and sends the bed down. The issue is, the bed is already all the way down and the printer freaks out, screeches, and I have to shut it down. I had to download Monoprice's CRAP slicer, WiiBuilder, slice an object, rip the start gcode from that slicer and paste it into Cura's start gcode. I then had to edit that gcode so it wouldn't interfere with other gcode, and voila. Due to the design, the bed wobbles whenever the nozzle moves. Because of that, I get wobbly first layers whenever the nozzle changes direction. I don't like the firmware. Its auto-feed filament has a unadjustable temperature of 200C, which anything other than PLA does not like. When starting prints and waiting for the nozzle to come to temperature, the bed is all the way down so the filament just oozes out and I have to remove it before it starts printing. The bed takes AGES to heat up. We're talking like 6-7 minutes just to get to 50C. A printer that costs this much should not be this difficult to set up. It's louder than my Maker Select v2, it doesn't support USB printing, the control knob doesn't correspond perfectly with the screen, the screen is very slow to respond when printing, and it is really annoying to change spools with. I would not recommend this printer.

Very good but not perfect.
Printer is very nice but not perfect. The instructions don't cover all aspects of the prepare and setup menus - in particular my printer had excessive clearance between the nozzle and the build plate as delivered, and adjusting this is not mentioned anywhere so I had to figure it out by trial and error. Also, the spool holder won't take a standard 1kg spool. And the filament feed geometry causes the filament to rub against the top door when it is closed.
However, once set up the print quality is very good indeed and the printer is easy to use and quiet.
