I bought 3 they work well and are a good deal.

PROS: It works - my lap top used to run quite hot not any more, Has a built in USB Hub, Fans have a power switch, Power LEDs, Very Light.

CONS: Had a problem using an external USB Powered drive with the built in USB hub. I plugged an external powered USB Hub to the Built in and all worked well.
It seems to be a Power thing on the built in hub.

It cooled my laptop down quite a bit. Might need a bit of tinkering to get the fans centered, but it's plastic, so it's easy to adjust the grates with a flathead screwdriver.

PROS: Decent laptop cooler - 3 large fans that help a lot with my 15" laptop.

CONS: Had some trouble with the fans hitting the plastic grate and making noise, but I pried the grate up a little bit and now it's no louder than my laptop fan was.

I didn't expect much when I bought this item to begin with, so I really wasn't let down much by this. On my MacBook Pro 17inch, the fans on the right and the middle are completely useless to me, leaving me to solely utilize the left sided one. From my observations, the fans were very noisy after being on for a while and it got quite hot. It does transfer heat from my laptop, but it seems too cumbersome to use on a daily basis. Its small size makes my laptop rather wobbly.

A tweak that may make this work better might be to prop the laptop up from the cooling pad with a couple dowels to allow for some more air flow. Since I need to type and use my touchpad, that is not a viable option for me.

All and all, if the fans can line up with the vents on your laptop, this will work great for you, but if they don't, maybe try something else instead.

Works perfectly, whisper quiet, and gives you a 4 port usb hub + 1 miniusb for under $10. What a steal! The plastic is cheap but all it needs to do is sit there so it works perfectly fine for the job. Now I can play games without overheating at school during my breaks instead of studying, thanks Monoprice!

I bought this pad to cool my notebook's hard drive (it's a Western Digital Black Scorpio which I bought to replace the stock drive that came with the laptop. This product line runs hot, and whoever designed my Dell never intended it to run this drive).

The fans started spinning right away, but I initially couldn't get the USB ports to work.

Now that I've figured out how to get the computer to recognize the USB Root Hub, the product seems to be working as designed. I'm monitoring the hard drive's temperature with HDD Health, and so far the temperature is holding steady at 36C. Without the cooling pad, the temperature would regularly climb above 50C!

So, points off for no instructions and for wasting my time. But on the whole, this thing works as designed, and you can't beat the price.

p.s., Yesterday Real Temp was reporting my CPU temperature at 74C. Today, with the cooling pad, it's running 58C, and I haven't heard the lap top's fan run once. That's not too shabby!

PROS: 3 quiet fans. 4 USB hubs, spaced pretty close together. 1 on/off switch on the front with 3 LEDs (one for each fan, apparently). 1 LED on the side next to the USB ports.

CONS: The box says, "specifications subject to change without notice" and they aren't kidding. The box lists 1 USB cable, but the product actually comes with 2. One is clearly a power cable, the other looks like a free mini-USB cable (but it's not!)

There are no instructions, and I had to play around with this thing a bit before discovering:
1) you need to connect BOTH USB cables (it's not clear that you should have to do this, because both sets of LEDs light up when you attach the power cable.)
2) you need to fool around with the timing of attaching the cables, or Windows XP won't recognize the new USB root hub that comes with the cooling pad.
3) there is no way to order the optional power adapter.

It does what I wanted it to do at a great price. The extra USB ports seemed to be a decent bonus, but I haven't yet found any use for them seeing as they don't support my wifi range extender, iPhone, or any of my iPods. Not surprising though without an AC adapter. It will sometimes make noise when started, but easily fixed with a quick lift and drop of the unit. So far I'm satisfied, and if you're not...at least you didn't pay a load of money for it.

PROS: Very Affordable

CONS: Extra USB ports don't support 5 Watts for my iOS devices and multimedia products.
Fan can sometimes be noisy.

This unit appears to keep my notebook cool and I've had no issues. However, there's a sizable gap along the front seam where the top and bottom pieces meet.

PROS: Compact, numerous USB ports, low price.

CONS: Fit and finish have a bit to be desired.

PROS: Works great for smaller laptops

CONS: Larger laptops do not fit well on the pad.

It works well for cooling but I have a Dell Studio and due to the design of the laptop it slides off the cooler when I use it on my lap, works fine if sitting at a table though.
Haven't had any great demands on the USB ports but the few things I have plugged in worked just fine.

Just received the product today and is functioning as it's supposed to but, if you are at all concerned about build quality, don't buy this product as it is one of the worst I have seen. I wish I had the time to make a video to upload onto YouTube. The build quality is pathetic.

The top and bottom molded plastic shell, which is supposed to snap together, enclosing the USB hub and fans, does not snap close. This is a quality control issue as the bottom portion was molded incorrectly, leaving a quarter inch gap between the top portion and the bottom portion. Of course if you lay your heavy laptop on it, it will flex close but, it should be illegal to sell crap like this and this product embodies the worst of "Made in China."

Naturally, I don't expect this item to last very long as I can see the poor quality components used to make this product. I don't think I'm even going to trying to return for replacement as it'll cost me more in time and postage then worth.

You've been warned.
