What sort of cleaning solution do you use for the wet mopping?
Robert L
on Sep 4, 2019
BEST ANSWER: For most everyday cleaning just hot water for normal everyday cleaning but for a thorough cleaning you could use wood floor cleaner that you can buy at Walmart or any retail store and you could dilute it 50/50 with hot water

Honestly, I use very warm water but I pretreat areas lightly w/ a simple floor cleaner solution such as Branch Basics or Force of Nature. Sorry if that isn't helpful!

I use vinegar and water mixed 50/50 for tile and hard wood. No streaming and vinegar kills germs too :)

What batteries need changed?

BEST ANSWER: There are no batteries this unit has a built in lithium ion battery that recharges everytime the unit is done and retuns to the charging base. Also alternatively, if you dont use the recarging dock you can plug the power supply unit directly into a power socket on the side of the robot vaccuum. Hope this helps

Is this the smart Vacuum as the strata home just with Alexa built in?
craig v
on Jan 8, 2019
BEST ANSWER: This vacuum is part of the Strata Home line of appliances but it is different from model #21714. This vacuum is STITCH app-controlled and works with Alexa and Google Home voice-command. With the app you can set timers and schedules for the vacuum. You can navigate the vacuum with the app and create smart scenes to respond to conditions (such as weather), to automatically execute the actions of the vacuum.

Does this or the Strata app that runs it have a "mapping" feature. As in, after it cleans your house a few times does it give you kind of a "map of your house" display of what it sees and senses? It's a feature I've seen on a few other cleaner bots that seems very convient.

BEST ANSWER: No. I have purchased this vacuum and it does not have a mapping feature. Neither does the STITCH app.
Vacuums that do include mapping typically use lasers (such as LIDAR) or cameras.

The description says that when the unit encounters a wall it switches to wall mode, and stays there until either the auto or spot buttons are pushed. Since most people would use it inside, in house-sized rooms, this implies that it will make one zigzag meander until it finds the first wall, then endlessly circle around the room. Is this true, or is the truth somewhat different?

Flawed Product
The vacuum deteriorates almost immediately. It works ok for about a month and then we have to have it replaced. Worth spending the money on something better.

A Robot
The robot has been working hard cleaning our floors. It seems to have a little trouble trying to get back to its base but overall for the price it works. We had one of the non smart ones before and this is a great step up. I just wish STITCH worked a little bit better with Home Assistant.

Great entry level robotic vacuum!
Great vacuum; fair mopping. The vacuum works really well. The grid style cleaning feature does a decent job, but at times you may need to help it out using the remote or app controls to guide it in or around complex objects. The mopping feature doesn't really work that well. It doesn't spray the floor in front of it or anything. So it basically just drags a damp cloth across the floor. The return to home feature doesn't work really well unless the return path is unobstructed. All around, it's a great entry level robotic vacuum for the price. I didn't want to invest too much money into a robotic vacuum because I wasn't sure if it would actually work well. This moderate investment gave me the confidence to consider upgrading to a robotic vacuum with smarter grid technology / room mapping features. My next one will have a better mopping feature also.

I'm not a stranger to robot vacuums. I own 5 now! This one is such a pain in the butt! Yes, it cleans and most of the time returns to it's dock. I tried REALLY HARD to like this thing. Unfor that means I missed the return window. :(
Dumping the dirt tray is SO MESSY. nothing pops open to easily dump the dirt and fur out. You have to shake it, which really just releases most of it back into the air.
It doesn't appear that you can remove the brush to get it really clean. You can only halfway get it clean and call it good enough.
The pop open part where the air filter lives, get clogged with dirt and fur. Makes me wonder how much it's actually spitting back out into the air.

Updated Model Not Always Better
Newer doesn't always mean better. I had an older model, which I really liked. But it had a problem and got this one because the other was discontinued. Monoprice wins with how easy it was to get the new unit replaced under warranty. The problem I have with this model is the lack of real manual control. I have a lot of obstacles in my house and don't mind controlling it myself. It seems that even when using auto and trying to prevent it from running over a cable or going down a step, it 'fights' the control . I'm still getting used to it but still liked the older model for it's easy of use.
