Can you connect 2 displays? 1 with the HDMI and one with the USB 3 port?

BEST ANSWER: The MacBook Pro is itself limited to a single video output per physical USB-C port. There are some products that allow connecting 2 monitors to a single USB-C port, but it is just a splitter that shows the same output on both monitors.
I am using 4 monitors on a MacBook Pro, but need all 4 USB-C ports to do so. This adaptor is on one of the ports so I can still connect the power supply and other USB devices to the computer.

Will this power a 16" MacBook Pro 2019? It needs 100 watts, I have had a hard time finding one that actually provides 100 watts.

BEST ANSWER: This adapter does not provide any power at all. It receives its power from the computer. I have been using it successfully with my 16" Mac Book Pro 2019 to provide an HDMI connection to an external 4K monitor and a wired Gigabit Ethernet connection. I have also used it to interface with older USB devices. I have not tried to use the USB-C output connector to power another device.

The device is not a power supply. The 16” MacBook need a 96w power adapter. The device is for connecting to USB C to other devices. I would not use this to power the Mac. It would be used to power a connected peripheral like a hard drive, phone etc.

The specs on this don't specifically list Linux or Chrome OS, but googling around shows that most products like this use the same USB bus drivers available for all OSes. After all, USB is a standard.

We cannot guarantee this would work in conjunction with any converters, they were designed to be connected directly to the source device and and any displays directly.

I have a MacBook Pro with only USB-C onboard connections. I need to use my USB-A Apple Superdrive, which needs a powered connection. Is there an adapter I can plug USB-A into, and then connect to the laptop via USB-C and power the external disc drive?

BEST ANSWER: This is what I found. You’ll never have to worry about lost cables with the Apple USB SuperDrive. It connects to your Mac* with a single USB Type-A cable that’s built into the SuperDrive. There’s no separate power adapter, and it works whether your Mac is plugged in or running on battery power.

Does the HDMI output pass through DDC/CI controls? These allow control of the native brightness, contrast and other controls of connected displays. (I have https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=21607 and DDC/CI works for that. See ddcutil (dot) com for more info)

Good value, works fine, and way cheaper than Thunderbolt
Works fine. And it's a lot less expensive than a true Thunderbolt dock. T-bolt only really useful if you actually have T-bolt peripherals. In external hard drives, Thunderbolt interface way more expensive than USB-C. So this adapter for USB-C is good and inexpensive.

Just what I needed.
This is perfect as a small dock for my Lenovo YOGA laptop. I needed one that didn't require a wall wart, had Ethernet and several USB slots. The Card reader was a plus. Small enough to easily travel with.

All works, and STILL works.
It does everything it advertises, and no issues, no heat-buildup. (Unlike one I'd bought via Amazon, that ran hot and lasted just past the return period.)
