I can't complain about this one at all. It works for me just great! Initially, I ordered it in haste and realized after I received it that it was actually not exactly what I had intended to purchase. I meant order a male-to-male cable, not a male-to-female extension cable, but like I said that was my fault for ordering it in haste. However, after I realized I bought something different than I was intending to purchase, I realized it was something I needed too. You see I have a computer with a Graphics card with three outputs (HDMI, DVI, and DisplayPort). For a few years I have had the computer set up for dual screens. At first it was 2 Samsung LCDs with both HDMI and DVI inputs, so one was connected HDMI and the other DVI. However, adding a third screen which only had HDMI meant I needed a way to connect to DisplayPort to DVI. I purchased an adapter and all I needed was a new DVI cable which is what I wanted to buy but I got the wrong thing. However, upon connecting three monitors I realized I actually do need this extension cable because the spread of three monitors, 24", 32" and 24" was too far for my DVI cable to reach the computer. So my mistake turned out to be in my favor! Now I did eventually get the correct cable, though not from Monoprice. I purchased it from a local RS store. I also paid a good deal more by purchasing it there instead of Monoprice. I just really didn't feel like driving over to Rancho Cucamonga (30 minute drive) for an inexpensive part. But I really should have, or just ordered it and waited for it. I opted for NORCO Delivery service to get the extension cable which came the next day! I love fast service. And Monoprice rocks! I'm glad its not too far away. Next time I need something like this, I'm going to Monoprice. No more going to RS for their overpriced items.
Purchased a DVI-D extension cable, since the cable that came attached to my new Monoprice monitor wasn't all that long. Very easy to install, arrived very quickly, easy to order through their site. Couldn't find a price as low as this at any walk-in office supply stores: either they were not in stock, or else ~$40.
I'm using this to make it easy to switch between two computers on a single monitor. One computer is running at 2560x1440 and the other is 1920x1200. I have one of these cables connected to each computer and then I use a standard DVI-D cable coming from the monitor and just manually switch it depending upon which computer I want to use. A little bit of a PITA, but a hell of a lot better than the hundreds it costs for a DVI-D capable KVA
