BEST ANSWER: Yes, it comes with a 3.5mm connector to plug in, but the aux cord is fairly short and if you already have a longer one you might be better off using an alternate cord just to have extra slack.

No. You will have to purchase a 3.5mm jack to RCA male stereo cable. It plugs into the back of one of the speakers. The cable that connects the two speakers is included.

Do these power off (sleep) automatically when there is no input? Can they power back on when there is audio input?

BEST ANSWER: No they do not. There is an on/off switch on the rear of the speaker. I have left them on at my office and were on when I returned the next day.

I use a pair of these on my TV and, no, they do not turn off when there is not an active signal. The pilot light remains on.

Does the output mute when headphones are plugged in? If not, then I assume the headphone jack could be used to furnish a signal to a subwoofer, right?

It mutes the speakers, it is a headphone phone jack not a sub out. A sub out also has different power requirements than a headphone jack.

Does the amplifier inside the unit have some sort of filter that cuts off low volume signals? If I set the volume low, or if the input signal is quiet, the speakers won't play any of it. There are times when the signal levels go up and down smoothly but the sound cuts in/out completely on and off.

If you have the speaker volume high and your input volume low, try reversing that. Increase the volume on your input device and control listening volume with the knob on the speakers.

BEST ANSWER: There are no holes so I don't think you can add grills, but the plastic is hard enough that if kids touch it, I don't think theres an issue. It seems to be feel super solid / thick.

BEST ANSWER: Yes, 4-pin connector cable, male on both sides. I don't see any replacements/alternatives on Monoprice (which is weird, since they have a whole Monolith section). Amazon has longer cables that should work.

BEST ANSWER: I don't own the DT-5BT, so I can't speak to those. I did quite a bit of research comparing the different sets of speakers and decided on the MM-3. I can speak to those, absolutely outstanding sound for the size. Great low-end for such small speakers and clear highs. Bluetooth works flawlessly, and I can't hear any difference between the wired and wireless connection on various types of music or content. If you are looking for solid sound either on your desktop or on a small bookshelf, the MM-3 are fantastic and were well worth the price for me.

I own a pair of these. When I use the speakers in Bluetooth mode (with my phone connected to it), and walk away with my phone, the speakers keep beeping. Is there a way turn off the beeping sound without physically shutting off the speakers each time?

I wish I had never turned on BT, and just used them as powered speakers as until I used BT the first time it didn't beep. I mean a colored light being blue or not would be great, but why a VERY LOUD beep that keeps beeping would be a desired feature is beyond me...

Best small format speakers!
I bought this set to replace some older speakers that were similar. They were a small powered desktop set with an internal power amp. The amp had given up the ghost. So I turned to my trusted friend, Monoprice to see what my options were.
I am a record producer & mix engineer. In my work shop I have a set of speakers mounted above my workbench so I can play music, or listen to a baseball game or whatever. I am actually blown away at how great these speakers sound. I am thinking about getting another set to use for mobile editing from time to time.
The Bluetooth feature is a huge bonus.

Great Sound in a Small Package
I'm pretty impressed with the sound stage these small speakers have. I have them paired to a pc via bluetooth and they sound great for music, movies, and gaming.

Huge sound from small package!
I wanted a robust sound for editing but did not have room for large speakers. These are perfect. The sound is fantastic and like that of speakers twice their size. Love them.

Impressive
These speakers are fantastic. They easy compete with other speakers that are twice the price. I use them for PC gaming and listening to music. They are very well balanced.
