What type of cable do I need for this?

Any speaker cable should work. Bigger gauge would be better and Shielded would be best!

Standard speaker cable will connect this to your amplifier. This is not a speaker you plug directly into your TV.

Standard speaker wire. I used 12 gauge, but you could use 16 or 14 as well, with minimal to no difference.

The box doesn't have or come with any hardware, key hole slots or anything to mount the speaker. You could remove the drivers and screw/anchor through the back of the box and then re-install the drivers.

I have the Monoprice Premium 5.1 speaker system which I like.. I'm debating if this speaker would be an improvement over the smaller center channel that came with the original set in that it has dual low frequency drivers (vs a single) and it has a ribbon tweeter instead of a dome. Also would this voice match with the other speakers?

I'm not an audiophile by any means, but I really enjoy this speaker. I'm thinking of replacing the rest of my surround speakers with pieces from this line. It's very clear and has a decent amount of bass. I use it on a daily basis. It's much better than the center channel speaker I previously had, and an improvement over my TV's built-in speakers as well. For the price, you really can't go wrong.

I am no audiophile but something wasn’t quite right with my original center channel. Spent countless hours tweaking settings and chasing clearer voices, which seemed muddied and dull. I made the switch and haven’t tweaked anything since. Clear voices at all levels. To my ears, the sound matches the other speakers.

I can't speak to timber matching, but this center channel is much better than the base package. This is the center channel I've been buying for friends and family as a first upgrade to their home theater in a box, and so far everyone loves it!

This speaker is not powered and needs some source of amplification (an av receiver or standalone amplifier. You could run a 3.5mm aux cable (the headphone split source) into an amplifier and then connect the speaker wires from the amplifier into the speaker.

It is 4" but honestly that is irrelevant. This will work perfectly with a Denon 4300. The issue will be making sure it is a reasonable match to the sound of your left and right channel speakers. If it sounds off send it back.

If you have a Denon 4300 as your receiver, I’d recommend spending more than $50 on your center channel....But to answer your question, you’re right! The drives are 4” NOT 4.5” like the description says.

I replaced the center channel that came with the basic 5.1 after getting the towers simply to match drivers. However, I’m running that little setup through a $300 Sony receiver. Depending on the size room/ number of speakers you’re running, it’s the best $50 center in my opinion, but it won’t sound right if you have B&W’s or Martin Logan’s for example.

I am running Klipsch tower RF6 in front and a 12' klipsch powered sub. The center is a tiny yamaha speaker and the surrounds are book shelf Paradigm. Picked this stuff up from an estate sale. With the exception of the Denon. I bought that new. This is kinda a side system for the basement. I was just worried the C65 might be over driven. I will probably get a Klipsch center.
Makes sense! If its not the main entertainment set up there's no reason to spend $$$$ on a center channel. I'd recommend looking at the matching Klipsch if there is one, other wise Definitive Technology makes a great center for a few hundred. Best of luck!

The woofers are 4". The speaker will work with your Denon 4300 but keep in mind that the speaker is rated at 60 Watts maximum, and your AV receiver is 125 watts RMS per channel.

Do these have a crossover?
A shopper
on Feb 24, 2019
BEST ANSWER: In general, anytime a speaker system has separate drivers for the various frequency bands, then some sort of crossover is in between the speaker terminals and the individual drivers themselves. The crossover directs the proper band of frequencies to the respective driver. As this speaker system is a two-way design (bass/lows and treble/highs) then there would have to be a crossover. Consider that ribbon tweeters would not survive bass frequencies, then there must at least be a capacitor blocking bass frequencies from the electrical path to the ribbon tweeter. The bass/mid-range drivers may or may not have their own crossover element as the mass of these cones is enough to make them inherently less responsive to higher frequencies.

I'm considering buying this speaker to go with the 15 degree angled ceiling alpha speakers (https://www.monoprice.com/product?c_id=304&cp_id=30404&cs_id=3040411&p_id=34197&seq=1&format=2) in a 7.1 surround setup because I don't like the idea of having sound from the center channel coming from the ceiling (a few feet away from the TV) rather than right below or above the TV (mounted directly next to TV). Would this center channel speaker work well? Or would another angled alpha speaker work well enough in the ceiling? Thoughts? Thanks for your time.

Monoprice MP-C65RT Center Channel Speaker with Ribbon Tweeter

Monoprice Alpha In-Ceiling Speakers 6.5in Carbon Fiber 2-Way with 15° Angled Drivers (pair)
One place in the description lists the large spaekers as 4.0 inches, and one place has them at 4.5 inches. This needs to be consistent to prevent customer confusion.? Thank you.

This has a lower power rating than the monoprice premium center channel speaker. What are the dangers of running it on a receiver with a power output of 165 W (6 ohms, 1 kHz, 1ch driven THD 0.9%)?

Even though it's been a few months in almost daily use, I have to say up front that the "Center Channel Speaker" has exceeded my expectations in regard to price, quality, build, and sound. I
f you are in search of a Center speaker for your home entertainment, this is an excellent choice.
I am in no way affiliated with Monoprice other than a now loyal customer for quality products. I will change my rating if the speaker does not meet it's original output within a certain period of time...

It's enough but maybe go bigger if it's in your budget.
It's okay. Very inexpensive, arrived quickly and works as listed. Not super-powerful (given it's wattage) but bang for the buck is spot on to the description and other reviews.

Excellent value, can't miss with this one
I bought a second one of these, since I liked the first one so well. Sounds great, and had good range, especially considering the price. You won't beat it.
The ONLY thing to consider is the physical size of the enclosure itself if you plan to put this in front of a tv that sits on an entertainment center or tv stand. The height can obstruct part of the screen, since bezels have gotten so thin, and most legs are pretty short.
It was fine on my older Samsung plasma, but too tall in front my new Hisense. They are both on their legs on stands. I had to put the speaker behind the Hisense.
Not a deal breaker by any means for me.

Great center channel
Received my speaker a few days ago and am thoroughly impressed so far. I'm no audiophile and have a simple 3.1 setup for my home theater. I've been using some old logitech computer speakers for over a decade now and my center channel speaker died last week, so I purchased this to replace it.
Glad I did so, but now I want to upgrade the R&L channels lol. This center channel is bright, sounds great and seems to have lowered my soundstage. I plan on purchasing the matching speakers soon

Very good
Very close to a five star rating. Replaced a book case speaker I was using on an older (re: secondary/basement) A/V receiver, so it was an immediate upgrade. Can't compare it to my pioneer center speaker on my primary, but.....for the price, its terrific.

Very good speaker for such a low price
The first speaker sent to me was damaged and the tweeter was dead. Monoprice sent me a FedEx label that I printed, and I RMA'd it back. The replacement came promptly and it sounds great. Voices are clear and bass is improved over the Onkyo center speaker I was using.

Okay but not optimal for speech intelligibility...
I use it with an amateur radio transceiver and find it okay, albeit a little flat around the 2KHz range desired for maximum speech ineligibility and a little excessive on the highs.
