How would these sound as surrounds with the 15700 as FR and FL and 24431 as the center? I like that they have a 15 degree angle already applied to them. Thanks

Monoprice Amber In-Wall Speaker 6.5in 3-way Carbon Fiber Column with Ribbon Tweeter (each)
Monoprice Amber In-Wall Speaker Center Channel Dual 5.25-inch 3-way Carbon Fiber with Ribbon Tweeter (single)
BEST ANSWER: I have a very similar setup to what you are asking, and my recommendation depends on if your surrounds are going to be in the ceiling or wall.
I have three of the 24431 as L/C/R and LOVE them. Really, really happy with the quality for the money. Then two of the 6.5" in-wall 24433 for my left/right surrounds.
I used these 15-degree angled 6.5" speakers for my in-ceiling atmos (4 of them) and feel that overall they match really well. I cannot differentiate between individual speakers unless I really try - and then it's usually the L/R because they are much closer. The angle is certainly a plus for audio quality in a ceiling speaker for sure.
I short, I would recommend sticking with the Amber line if you are in-wall (rectangular), but if in-ceiling and want round speakers, this is the best choice IMO.

I have the alpha as my outdoor speakers and rear surrounds, they sound pretty good. I used the Ambers for 6.5's front stage and center channel. For my application, I used 1 pair for the center because I didn't want to have to cut out the wall support that was centered with the TV, I just wired one on the left and right of center for the center. Most of the vocals and information are from the center channel anyway so this works out fantastic. I have an Earthquake 12" Supernova for the low end which is overkill but I love it. Goes super low, I think it might be summoning some whales. Say hi to Rakim for me :-)

They should sound fine, the issue is the speaker depth may be too much for walls. The 24433 should be good.

I should've clarified, these would be in the ceiling for a 5.1 system
Yes these will be great. Benefit is you can rotate the entire speaker to point to the main listening position. If that is not a concern, also look at Product # 13687 that has a variable angle. Keep in mind if these are Atmos speakers even basic in ceiling speakers will work.
All I can say is they sound great in my 7.1 using a marantz reciever.

BEST ANSWER: There isn't a safety issue presented, such as a fire risk. If that is what you are worries about, there isn't anything to worry about there.
Some people choose to our a box or enclosure around it, but it isn't necessary.
Generally speaking, insulating around the speaker will provide better acoustics.

If the paper side is against the back of the speaker you are going to hear a buzz. I would cut out the paper the same size as the speaker cutout. The insulation will not harm the speakers

I have used the in ceiling only when we have company over. They are perfect for that atmosphere sound as well

Is the tweeter also amiable itself, beyond the speakers already angled 15 degrees?

BEST ANSWER: Yes it is. I would estimate it has an additional 15 degrees of angle adjustment (in all directions,) leading to a total deflection of up to 30 degrees from perpendicular if you count the ""built-in" 15-degree angle.

Yes they can. Maybe another ther 5-10 degrees. Even though they're angled I wouldn't put them much further than 10 feet away from the listening position. That's for my application which is a 5.1 home theatre. These for the R&L, center channel at head height below the TV and Monoprice Alpha 6.5 (non angled) for the rear channels. Sounds great for me and they're still warming up.

If you have an open ceiling then you don't really need in-ceiling speakers don't you? You can just put regular speakers on some sort of speaker mount.

I like the idea of having them flush with the overall ceiling line, especially since these have angled tweeters. I would prefer to not have speakers hanging down from the ceiling.
They latch to drywall using 4 tabs around the speaker that lock between the drywall and the speaker/ Similar to how in-wall outlet boxes work. You would have to mount some sort of support between the joists. Also you can get angled speakers or even dual speakers, like dipole/bipole, and mount them flush to a joist.
Box them in between the joists. Cutout is 8.66”, so they’ll fit.

Is there any reason these could not be used in a car?
A shopper
on Jul 23, 2022
BEST ANSWER: I would be careful if you want to put them in a door. Two things. One. The depth of the door might not accommodate the depth of the speaker. Check before cutting any holes. Two. They are not weather proof so if water gets past the window seals down into the doors that might cause a problem. But if you are mounting them somewhere else on a panel with enough depth behind it, or in a box, they will probably work great.

Besides mounting and fitment issues, these are 8ohms and are low sensitivity, car systems typically run 4ohms or less you would be cutting your systems power output by half. Its Best to just find specific car speakers, much less hassle.

It does come with a template for tracing. I would recommend you wait until you have that in hand before cutting. Also, use a stud finder to verify there aren’t ceiling joists in the way.

I'm considering buying this speaker to go with the 15 degree angled ceiling alpha speakers (https://www.monoprice.com/product?c_id=304&cp_id=30404&cs_id=3040411&p_id=34197&seq=1&format=2) in a 7.1 surround setup because I don't like the idea of having sound from the center channel coming from the ceiling (a few feet away from the TV) rather than right below or above the TV (mounted directly next to TV). Would this center channel speaker work well? Or would another angled alpha speaker work well enough in the ceiling? Thoughts? Thanks for your time.

I like them I think but
So I ordered 2 sets (4 speakers) one boxed set had no manual or template. Wasn't a huge deal because the other box included them. I cut the holes for the first two speakers and installed them as a test fit because I am doing speakers and recessed lighting. When I went to remove the speakers I had to take the screws out all the way, at which point they became very fiddley to properly replace the plastic retaining bracket. Not a short coming of the speakers but unless you are prepared to mess around with the retainers I recommend making it a one shot deal.

Good speakers.
Speakers are good quality and easy to install once the hole has been cut. Ceiling speakers are more difficult to install than in-wall. The in-wall speakers are simple as you are simply avoiding studs (2×4). In the ceiling, you need to avoid the 2×8 and the strapping which run in opposite directions. Measure and measure, measure again. Then cut holes.

Missing
The speakers are great, but I have to fabricate some cans for them before I can install them. I have blown insulation above my ceiling.

FL & FR for home theatre
I have had these installed for roughly one week and so far so good. They are installed roughly 10ft from the listening position and I can't complain. The only negative is their sensitivity. My center channel was much louder but that can be fixed with some amp tuning. I am excited for them to "warm up" a bit as they are fairly stiff and the woofers don't move much. I have the them set at neutral attenuation and they aren't to bright for me. This helps them blend with my center channel too. Quality is great, instal was simple, great sound and overall I am happy with them.
