BEST ANSWER: According to the information on the product page, there's a nearly 100% chance it will, assuming an M1 MAC supports all USB-C formats and doesn't try to manipulate it through some crazy Apple nonsense.

This says it requires no drivers for windows or Mac. What kind of drivers might it need on Linux? (I'm running debian 12 with gnome and the nvidia drivers, which force x11 instead of wayland, for context.)

USB to VGA is A-OK!
If you want to adapt your VGAs to your USBs this is the adapter for you. It will not adapt HDMIs to USBs, you'll need a different adapter for that. Or VGAs to Thunderbolts, don't even consider it! But for VGAs to USBs this is your huckleberry.

Inexpensive way to use older monitor
The adapter works! I was able to connect my old monitor with a VGA output to my new laptop.

Can't objectively review
My piece-of-crap HP laptop doesn't support video on the USB-C interface, so I can't confirm or deny how it works, but other USB-C adapters I've bought from Monoprice work fine.
I have a USB 3.0 to Ethernet adapter that works fine as well as a USB-C to Ethernet adapter that also works fine.

Works. Great price.
Wasnt that easy (for me) to find the correct adapter to use with an old LCD display. Works out of box with no hassle. Cant beat the price.
