Back only. Be aware that the thread is extremely unusual or a manufacturing defect as none of the Monoprice mounts work with it nor any of the universal options. Monoprice customer support was not helpful in working through this.

The maximum input power is only 30 watts per speaker. That's not going to work if my receiver is putting out 80 watts (RMS) per channel...???
A shopper
on Jul 8, 2022
That is a misprint. If you look at the third description picture it says 8 ohms, 88db sensitivity and 100 watt input. Plus having extra power means less distortion at high levels. But these efficient speakers won't pull much power.

The .4 at the end indicates that there are 4 upward-firing height channel speakers for use with Dolby Atmos, etc.. If you look at the 5.1.2 version of these (see attached link), you should be able to see the difference on the top of the speakers. It's important to keep in mind that each of those speakers needs its own wired connection.

This speaker system is Dolby Atmos capable. The front and rear satellite speakers have a second up-firing speaker on the top to bounce Atmos height channels onto the listener. Unlike a soundbar, this setup will require a separate purchase of a receiver to drive sound to the individual speaker channels. If you want to make use of all the up-firing Dolby Atmos channels, you'll need a receiver that is capable of at least a 5.1.4 Dolby Atmos setup. Once installed, this setup will consist of a center channel below your TV, two satellite front speakers to either side of your TV, two satellite rear speakers behind or to the side of your listening position, and a subwoofer somewhere at the front of the room. All will be hardwired to your receiver.

If your receiver has 2 sub/lfe out, you connect one LFE cable to each subwoofer and position them either in front 3/4 of the way to each side of your main speaker wall or behind you depending on your space requirements. On this subwoofer it appears the red and white are LFE in so it shouldn't matter which one you use, but if the first one doesn't work. Turn off the sub, switch to the other and power the sub on and test it.

Yes, I have a similar receiver and it’s fine. These speakers each have dual inputs for Dolby atoms meaning that there are two sets of inputs for some of the speakers and you will have to leave those unused. That is a what I do. You may want to look at the speaker set below this however.

Will this work well with a Denon AVR-S540BT?
A shopper
on Nov 11, 2024
BEST ANSWER: Hi, it appears that Denon AVR-S540BT can handle 6-16 ohm load. This HT 5.1.4's Sat speakers have 4 ohm load and the center channel is 8-ohm. This will still work with your Denon receiver, however, you might not be able to generate the rated maximum power output to the load as it might cause issues with the AVR. As long as you're not playing contents at a very loud volume. There should be no problem.

Hello,
For the 5.1.4 system, what amplifier do you suggest? Since each satellite has 2 connections (1 regular and another Atmos), plus the center speaker and the subwoofer, would that be a 10-Chanel amplifier? I know there’s a a simpler answer than that, but I would sincerely appreciate your recommendation with this.
Thank you.

BEST ANSWER: To take full advantage, you will need a receiver/processor that can decode Dolby Atmos or DTS: X and have 9 channels of amplification.

For the price these speakers and subwoofer can't be beat. These sound like a much more expensive sound system. I love monoprice.

Decent For the Price.
Most of the speakers are decent for their price. Only the center speaker is not good with my ears, it is not at the same level as four satellite speakers. But cannot expect too much at this price. Four satellite speakers are pretty good. The sub is compact yet powerful than I expected, good enough for average consumers.

You are not going to lose
The sound was more than I could hope for, so I got two units. I am going to use the subwoofer from second unit with the first unit with RCA splitter. The satellite speakers and center speakers are perfectly sized, kind of small foot print but put out impressive sound. I watched some action movies and was quite impressed with the sound quality.

Great for me!
I am not an audiophile and I cannot speak to specs and response levels. I go by my ear. This set sounds amazing to me. I have them paired with a Denon X4500
Aesthetically, the only thing that bugs me is a crooked logo glued onto the grille of the center channel

Can't be beat especially for the price!!!
I purchased these to run off a Denon 7.2.4 receiver. My room is kind of big so I didn't know if this would be the right purchase to fill the room. I am so glad I took a chance. These sound GREAT, especially for under $250. The sub filled the room and you can definitely feel it, but since I like overkill and the receiver has 2 sub outs, I wanted another one. I scoured the Monoprice page and even called just to find out that they do not sell this sub individually so when the price of the entire system dropped to $161 I purchased another. Now I have 2 subs that sound GREAT and extra speaker for a future upgrade. DEFINITELY worth the small investment!!!!!

Love the sound and everything about it. Only downfall is I can't find stands that will work with this system. I bought Monoprice stands but the screws don't fit. It's been frustrating to say the least. I also tried the wall mounts, but the screws for that don't fit the threads on the back of the speaker.
