The tech specs say that this arm will hold 19.8 lbs., my monitor weighs 16.9 lbs. The middle arm will not hold it up though. Any way to tighten the spring arm?
Noah K

BEST ANSWER: Hi, the product ships with minimal tension in the gas spring arm to make assembly safer. Once setup, there is an adjustment screw at the base of the gas spring arm that you will need to adjust. You will need to use the supplied hex wrench and turn the adjustment screw counterclockwise towards the "+" sign until there is enough tension to support the monitor. You can check out the #4 drawing in the manual for reference. Thanks for checking.

Use the enclosed Allen wrench to tighten the screw at the hinges. They are hard to turn. Put some muscle into it. They hold our heavy 32” monitors without any problems. I raise and lower frequently to alternate sitting and standing (with an auxiliary stand for a keyboard and mouse). Despite raising and lowering twice a day, it works great! You just have to balance the tightness of the hinges with the weight and desired ease of motion. Hope this helps. E

On the elbow is a screw that will increase the tension on the spring. Should be a hex key included with it that fits it. There is a plus and minus embossed next to it showing you which way to turn the screw to increase or decrease the tension.

I have a Dell 32" monitor that weighs 16.5 lbs. Make sure that you tighten the adjusting hex nut counter-clockwise to tighten the arm. Normally, a nut tightens clockwise, which is what I did at first.

Yes, a hex key should have came in the kit. I used the hex key to adjust mine to hold the monitor in place. Works great.

Could I use this to mount a TV to a desk? Will the mount lineup with the TV holes?

on Jun 5, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hi, as others have mentioned, VESA mounting standards between TVs, Monitors, and Mounts are consistent so as long as you have the correct size and pattern it would work. This mount has the 75 x75 and the 100 x 100 mounting points and would work with VESA compliant TVs that use those sizes. Thanks for checking.

The TV likely has VESA standardized mounting holes, and the specs for them will be listed in the manual, or you can measure the holes in millimeters to find out what size it requires. The mount accepts 75x75 or 100x100 ( 75mm or 100mm, just under 3 inches for the smaller, 4 inches for the larger )

the mounting holes are VESA compliant, standard spacing. Generally speaking, if you have a space on the back for this kind of mounting, it will be the correct size.

Can this be mounted upside down and if so will it hang fully extended the whole time or can it stow in the upward position?
A shopper
on Nov 25, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Nope, it will hang fully extended. This thing articulates using a spring that you can adjust for different monitor weights. But it's only meant to lift the monitor in an upright position. Upside down, the spring won't be opposing the weight, it will be adding to it--and that's not very helpful.

I can't be 100% certain... but I see no reason that it can't be mounted upside down. The gas spring is adjustable so you can tighten or loosen it to balance the monitor this way.

H- Can anyone tell me what is the length this arm can extend from clamp to user?
A shopper

BEST ANSWER: Hi, clamped to the edge of a desk, this mount can extend around 24" from the desk edge straight towards the user. The base of the clamp that sits on top of the desk is around 3" wide, so this mount can extend 21" from the tip of the clamp base. Hope this helps.

If grommet mount is used, does the base cover the entire grommet hole or is there space to still run the wires through the grommet hole? Thanks!
George F
on Jan 22, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hi, the base is bigger than the typical grommet hole at around 4" x 3.5" so it would cover it if you center the mount over the hole to distribute the weight evenly, which is the typical way to setup this product. But if your desk is made of durable material and the grommet hole is at least 2" diameter, you should be able to offset the base towards the front to leave some space for cables in the back, you probably have to run the cables through before securing the mount since the opening might not be big enough for the plugs or connectors. Hope this helps.

My desk is not just a tabletop with legs. It has drawers and a backplate so the space underneath the back edge of the desk is limited. How much space is needed to fit the clamp under the edge on the back of the desk?
A shopper
on Jul 30, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hi, you would need approximately 3.5 inches from the back of the desk and 4 inches wide. If space on the edges are limited, this product comes with through-hole mounting hardware if you desk has a grommet hole or if you could drill a 1/4" hole through the desktop. Hope this helps, thanks.

Robust & Stable Mount, Perfect for Open Office Space
It took me a while to get this set up because I had a hard time tracking down the right adapter for my Samsung monitor - an issue with Samsung, not Monoprice.
Once I got the heavy 27" monitor set up, I spent a long time adjusting the tension screw to keep it from dropping down to the lowest point. However, once I got the tension dialed in, the monitor is 100% secure and stable, even when moving the sit/stand convertible desk that it is mounted to up and down.
I'm very impressed with the build quality of this mount and would recommend it. The only caveat is the arm needs some room to articulate fully, so it will likely bump into the wall if installed in a corner. Perfect for more open spaces, but may not work as intended if too close to a wall or especially a corner.

Great product, simple install
Great product! Very satisfied with the product. Install was pretty easy. I ended up drilling a hole through my desk and mounting it that way. It is slightly sturdier than just clamping it.
My only complaint is that my monitor moves slightly when I type. I've gotten used to it, and the movement is only slight. But something to be aware of.

Great mount
This mount is the best I've ever had. The hole mount system is perfect for my custom made desk in my home office. I had an existing cable hole in the desktop and the hole mount fit inside it next to the cables from below perfectly. I hade an edge mount device before, but this device lets me have much greater flexibility as to where I position the monitor. In relation to height, angle, proximity to the user, etc., I can readjust it with a simple movement in seconds. I originally purchased the mount so I could hole mount it and I am so glad I did. The option to hole mount or edge mount is a wonderful and versatile feature. This is the best monitor mount I've ever had, and the quality of this mount is a bargain for the price.

Workstream Monitor Mount is a Must
Last year I purchased a Zero-G 35" wide screen monitor. I was quite happy but lost most of my desk space. I quickly got the Workstream Adjustable Gas Spring Desk Mount and after some finagling to get it installed properly, it it was amazing. I got back a lot of desk space plus my monitor now was floating in front of me at eye level, steady and strong. If you have a 27+ monitor at home, you really need a support mount like this. It's awesome

Gets the job done, fraction of the cost of alternatives.
Works exactly as described.
Install was quick and easy. Build quality is about as good as possible. I'm not too concerned with aesthetics.
I haven't removed it to see if the desktop was scuffed under the clamp. I probably won't, not terribly concerned about that.

work from home and play
so far purchased 3 of thesse monitor arms, got the one first and loved it so much decided to change the mounts i was using for my gaming setup. Only issue I had was one of the from hinges couldnt tighten as the bolt was too soft so the monitor mount would very easily shake and tilt side to side.
