Can you use these speakers in a passive mode, so as to attach to a home stereo amplifier?

BEST ANSWER: If I understand your question, I think you are asking, “can I bypass the internal amplifier of this loudspeaker enclosure and instead peer it with an external amplifier or receiver,” the answer is no. However, there are RCA outputs (1 stereo set and one subwoofer in mono) that Will pass a line level non amplified signal out to an external amplifier or receiver input. I would also assume the stereo set is “full range”, and that the mono sub out has some type of low pass crossover filter to only send sub bass frequencies, but I can’t find the manual now. In any case this sub out does not appear to have an adjustable crossover point and I can’t tell u what frequency the fixed crossover point. I consider myself a bit of an audiophile and I will say these are pretty well balanced speakers for casual ambient listening in one room, nice fill. Or maybe used as a computer speaker for gaming, etc. one unit has plenty of punch and good sound quality for near field listening.

No, not unless you open it up and bypass the internal amp. It has a internal 120w amplifier in it. You are much better off buying a Passive speaker for the money. If your home stereo amplifier has a Pre Out you can also connect it that way.

Nope. But I don't think you'd want to. There are better passive-only speakers out there to use. This one is great for the kitchen or some place far from your home stereo.

I dont think so. These are self powered (self amplified) units. They seem best when used stand alone. They are also bluetooth and that is their strength.

No, they are amplified all the time. If your home stereo has "Pre-Amp" unpowered outputs you could connect it to that. Otherwise/no.

What's the maximum range for pairing two of these units? I'd like to put one in another room about 30 feet away from the other unit. Also, it's my understanding one channel becomes left, the other right. Is there any lag between the units as a result? Compliments to Monoprice. The audio quality is outstanding. Bump the treble up a couple of notches and the unit shines. Steely Dan's exceptionally polished recordings come through in all their sonic glory. 👍

BEST ANSWER: The maximum we tested the stereo pairing was 15 feet, but it wasn't through a wall as they were in the same room.

I have them about 10 feet apart in one room with a clear path between and the Bluetooth drops out momentarily regularly from one speaker.

I don't know- I plan on building a powered subwoofer for sure though. This speaker overall is pretty good; however, next run it would be great if they could tweak a few things. It definitely peaked my interest so much that I plan on building my own bluetooth speaker with all the feathures I feel this one is lacking- It will cost twice as much, so all in all for the money- This is a great speaker.

BEST ANSWER: The unit picks up signals from other IR remotes and goes haywire. You could block (ie tape) the IR sensor and use the manual controls on the device.

BEST ANSWER: True. It's a powerful speaker. It can easily play loud, but ultimately wattage isn't the final say on sound quality.

What frequency range is sent to the subwoofer? Seems it's been asked several times and not answered. You should have/list that spec.

I read this in a review on this site: "Only downside is the the pairing only works in Bluetooth mode, not if you have the aux in one or another input". Is it correct that if I use aux or optical then the stereo pairing does not work? I see 2 answers to this question in the list, but one answer says it does work and another says it doesn't. Can we get an official Monoprice answer?

ALL-IN-ONE SOUNDBAR SOLUTION
Perfect for my needs. Serves as an inexpensive home theater solution for a flatscreen with terrible speakers.

stereo setup, pretty good sound
sound is quite good if not quite as bright or detailed as I would like it. I have to set up as a stereo and Bluetooth drops out of one of them briefly but with annoying regularity. There is a clear path between the speakers which are about 16 feet apart. I'd like to know if there's something I could do to improve the situation.

Meh!
This is way better than my other bluetooth speaker, but I had hoped to use it for critical listening when I didn't want to fire up the big studio monitors. Sorry - not even close. It'll come in handy - perhaps my expectations were too high...

BIG SOUND small price
The Soundstage3 has an impressive sound. I use it in my 1/3 acre backyard to fill the area with sound. I don't need to crank up the volume which is nice. Pairing with a smartphone is simple. This could easily be a much more expensive unit. I am glad I got it when I did

Very Pleased
It lives up to its promise; it set up easily to link to my iPhone via bluetooth and sounds good in a fairly large room. It's a bit larger than I anticipated but that's fine as it will be on a bookshelf. So far, I'm very pleased.

Great speakers! Dual speaker usability could be better.
Great speakers! Loud, great Bass, and sexy! Only downside is the the pairing only works in Bluetooth mode, not if you have the aux in one or another input, also, there is no port to pair. If you don't plan on getting 2 and trying to pair, great speakers.
Almost the perfect speaker set!

Great sound in a small package
Very happy with the performance of the speakers. Easy set up and linking for true stereo. Had some issue with interference but it was likely due to proximity of the wireless source not the speakers themselves.
