I have an older Receiver that handles 1080P only and once I bought a 4K HDR TV, I bought this and this did a fantastic job. This automatically switches inputs based on what is live. The only wish I had for this was to have 2 outputs instead of 1. My older receiver has an option to receive Audio HDMI and I instead had to look for another device that would replicate the incoming HDMI signal into 2 and have my receiver use that for Audio. This has an analog audio extractor for 2 Channel (TRS) and Optical that does not do DTS and some other formats (which was an issue for me). The solution I was looking for was to get all audio formats and this does the partial job. Adding another HDMI Replicator in the mix solved it.
We had some heavy storms and lightning or something knocked out one of the two HDMI ports on my TV. I was at that point limited to either the satellite TV or the DVD player. I purchased this switch to let me play multiple devices through the one working port. It works perfectly! Peace in the house again as my wife likes to watch movies and I watch TV. Now with a push of the remote we can switch again without reconnecting the one working port.
