Does this mount permit tilting the speaker?
Richard E
on Aug 9, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes, if you look at the image from the top there is a Phillips head screw and the cupped part of the mount below it has a slot to change the angle up or down by loosening the screw then tightening it once you have the correct up or down angle needed.

Yes, it does, within the limits of the cup-cone interface between the arm and the part that grabs the speaker. It's not very much, maybe 15 deg or so, but should be sufficient.

Is there any plastic pieces to this unit or is it all made of metal?
A shopper
on Jun 11, 2020
BEST ANSWER: All of the pieces are metal except for some trim pieces, which are plastic. I recently installed them for my Yamaha HS8 Studio Monitors. These brackets support their weight without any problem. The only thing to watch for is that the center (vertical) pivot screw must be very tight or the monitors may slip forward or backwards. I needed to tighten mine a few times but they haven't moved since. You can check by keeping a small level on the top of your monitor for a few days. These worked perfectly for me. Hope this helps.

Everything that supports the speaker are made of metal. The only plastic in the kit is the cap that slides down the arm and snaps onto the plate that screws into the wall for aesthetic purposes.

How far out from the wall does the mount go?
A shopper
on Feb 16, 2023
BEST ANSWER: The distance I measured from the wall to the center of the speaker platform is about 7", but I think it can be adjusted to be further or closer by an inch or two. Also, depending on the size of the speaker, you can position the speaker within the mount further or closer to the wall. I have a pair of JBL 130 that ended up about 3" from the wall

Can this be mounted to Sheetrock wall with expanding insert fasteners that widen when screwed in ?
Jerry

BEST ANSWER: My set came with anchors and screws for exactly that purpose. I mounted mine into the wall studs with lag screws as my speakers are about 30# each. Anything heavier then 25#, I personally would substitute Molly bolts in sheetrock to better distribute the weight. These are great wall mounts!

The short answer is yes, it comes packed with a couple.
The better solution is to spend $5 or less on sturdier weight bearing toggles that actually branch behind the drywall. Depending on speaker weight, it would be a better approach.

I ordered 2 because the listing made it look like the price was for each speaker mount. I just got the box - it has 2 boxes inside - and each of the smaller boxes inside looks to have A PAIR of speaker mounts inside them.
Someone at Monoprice needs to reword the listing and delete the "best answer" by "Dave L. - Staff" as it appears to be wrong.

I want to mount these on a side wall and angle my speakers to point forward (turn them 90 degrees from what they're shown in the photo) Would that work and would they still tilt at that angle?
Stephen L
on Jan 31, 2022
BEST ANSWER: Having the side of the speaker parallel to the side wall should work fine. The tilt should work as well. The only limitation I could foresee is if your speaker is too deep and you want to have it angled somewhere between 90 degrees and forward like the picture. The back corner of the speaker could run into the wall. This probably isn't an issue with most bookshelf speakers though.

Do these mounts have to be mounted to a stud wall to solidly support weight of speakers? My surround speakers are 15lbs, plus the weight of the mount themselves. Also, if mounted level with the floor, are these mounts supportive enough that one doesn't need to drive screws through the speaker (as shown on the instructions) to keep them stable from falling off the mounts?
A shopper
on Oct 18, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hollow wall anchors should owork fine. If concerned don't use the plastic one's use the mental screw anchors instead. I would suggest using screws to hold the speakers in place. I am 6'3" and mounted mine above my head on the two pillars dividing the room. If they are going to be close to floor probably won't have to worry about them falling since you can tighten the device to hold them in place. I would recommend using the screws to secure them.

The mounts come with plastic drywall anchors. You can purchase metal wall anchors that clamp open from the other side. I used lightweight black tie down straps over my Yamaha speakers and around the plate to hold the speaker securely without drilling into the back or bottom of speakers. Mine are mounted about 10' high in the great room, no problems so far.

If my speakers are only 4.5 inches wide, what can I do?

BEST ANSWER: Hello,
The smallest width that the bracket will retract is 5.5 inches. My recommendation would be to place a wood shims (block) on each side. If you’re familiar with the “Jenga” game, the size of those blocks would work great. Paint them black if you want them to match and your set. Using the blocks should not interfere with supporting your size speaker. I hope this helps!!!

They will still rest on the stand. The sides won’t touch the speakers. It will still work and hold the speakers.

How much rotation do these allow at the pivot? I would like to rotate about 135° and use "backwards". i.e., with the clamps at the rear of the speaker. This would allow me to mount my speakers closer to wall. Their base is 6 inches square, and they should fit in this arrangement if the pivots allow enough rotation.

BEST ANSWER: Don't think it would be a problem. You actually bolt them together during installation and it appears you could reverse mount.

From my experience, when the bolt is loosened, you can rotate the "ball and socket" freely.

BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question.
The clamps can extend between 5.4" and 11.0" and we can only guarantee these would work properly in the orientation shown on the product page's pictures.

BEST ANSWER: Is it both covers popping off?
May want to get some 3M double sided tape and find a place that would make sense to stick it so the mount cover stays in place.
I don't have that issue though. Just a thought.

There is no picture showing the mounting holes. Can this be attached to a wood bookcase? Can you use wood screws to attach it rather than the anchors or cement screws? Speakers weigh less than 5 lbs each.

Great Mount
Great mount! not really pushing the limit on size or weight my speakers are 11.4 x 8.1 x 9.0 inches (HxWxD) and a little under 12lbs. That said these are solid for my speakers mounted in drywall with the included drywall anchors. I should probably mention they look nice too. They were the best looking option I could come up with for my side surrounds.

Pretty decent, good value
First off, there ARE two of these in the box. Installation was easy and they seem sturdy, the plate covers do sometimes slide down though...

Poor manufacturing, covers do not attach
Per the picture, the raised channels that face outward are stamped incorrectly. They should face the wall to allow the beauty covers to attach to the plate.
Switching the arm to face this way is not possible since the plate is also stamped to allow the arm to be attached to it.
I added two washers behind the plate at each screw in an attempt to raise the plate and secure the covers. They still pop off easily since further clearance is needed.

Despite description of single speaker mount on web site, there are two in the box when it arrives. I called Monoprice, and specifically asked the contents and was told I needed to buy two for two speakers. I did so and wasted 19 $. I no longer trust Momoprice customer service. Speaker Mounts are sturdy.

Awesome budget mounts but..
Great value though I got mine more expensive than the current price. I wish prices were more consistent. I also wish they already made it totally clear that "each" is actually referring to two mounts per order. I went for two but I ended up with four mounts when I needed only two! I had even contacted their support to clarify that fact before purchase and I was told that the indicated price covers one mount!
Otherwise these mounts still have great value and look quite nice and clean and got fairly good rubber protection on the areas where speaker surface touches them.
