Would these be suitable for outdoor use? They would be mounted to the house and would have "some" protection from the elements.

BEST ANSWER: I think the plastic parts would be, likely need to better understand the type of screws and bolts in them to see if they are stainless steel. The connections though are a pressure fit with a tightening screw. The screw doesn't go into a groove though so I would have concern about heat or elements affecting this to make those connections come loose over time.

I installed 4 of these indoors. They are sturdy and well-built. If you live in a Southern climate, I might be concerned about sunlight weakening the plastic over time (years??) -- but for the price of these, why not? I think they would be fine if in the shade.

Maybe. While they should be fine outdoors, wind hitting your speakers may impact how well these stay anchored - they may not be strong enough when put under pressure from wind. Also, not clear if the screws/bolts are weather proof and will probably rust.

Do these mounts swivel up-and-down, also left-to-right?
A shopper
on Oct 4, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes they swivel up and down. The left-to-right movement is achieved by rotating either or both of the attachments at the ends, so the effect is the same but it is not a simple swivel left and right like it is up and down.

Yes, but I would not rate the weight capacity > 4 lb. there is no way these can handle 10 lbs. They couldn’t handle the weight of the Polk S10 at 6lbs. They did work fine for some smaller Pinnacle speakers however.

You can turn the mounts in any position up/down, left/right. I wouldn't suggest to move them around after you've completed the install your speakers though.

Yes you can screw them into the ceiling or into the wall. Make sure to screw them into concrete, or the wood wall studs / wood ceiling joists.

BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question.
This could work on the wall and ceiling but you would want to check if the included screws would fit on your speakers.
You can see all the included screws here: https://downloads.monoprice.com/files/manuals/3013_Manual_170918.pdf

We had not tested these with that speaker specifically so we cannot say with certainty whether or not they would work with this bracket.

Will these work with 33833 speakers?
A shopper
on Oct 1, 2023
BEST ANSWER: These are rated to 10lb so they can support the 5lb 33833 speakers but I would recommend mounting to studs only at that weight if that is not an option toggle bolts are the way to go. The only issue I see with the 33833 speakers is that they have a top firing driver for height channel and mounting them to the ceiling would not allow that feature to work correctly.

I would have liked them better if the price I paid hadn't dropped by 50% the next day. Haven't been installed yet so no opinion on their abilities.

Doesn't support 10 pound weight as described
I tried to used these mounts to replace speakers that had been set on speaker stands. Unfortunately, the description of these speakers that says they will support speakers of up to 10 lbs appears to be incorrect, as my contractor installed 6 lb speakers using these mounts which then promptly started to sag downwards. This means I am out the cost of the mounts as well as the costs of my contractor for the installation, the subsequent removal, and wall repair and repainting (which of course greatly exceed the costs of the mounts).

Flimsy., Not well engineered, as the plastic posts do not hold well with the set screws. Also, the set screws are in threaded holes in the plastic - seemly not very robust especially considering the necessity to tighten a lot to keep the posts from slipping off. The swivel doesn't have much friction to maintain any angle - a star washer placed in there could help. These may work OK on a wall, but not for a ceiling mount as the speaker may easily slip off the post/flange, falling to the floor.

Great price
Installed these recently with two different customers.
One customer had an existing DefTech system that matched up perfectly with the hardware that is included.
The other customer bought the Monoprice Premium 5.1 speaker system. None of the screws included in the mount kit match the mounting point on the satellite speakers. Say what?! How can a Monoprice speaker wall mount not have a screw that matches a Monoprice Premium speaker system? I ended up having to modify the bracket to fit over the mounting point of the speaker and drill holes in the speaker cabinet to use the provided self tapping screws.
Overall good quality for a great price. Just include matching screws for your own speaker systems Monoprice.
