How do the analog audio outs work - does the corresponding HDMI output need to be connected to an actual display for analog audio out to work? Will the matrix decode Dolby/DTS/TrueHD/Master Audio input formats for analog audio out? If the input is multi-channel (5.1+, PCM/Dolby/DTS/TrueHD/Master Audio) will the matrix mix it down to stereo, or just discard all but the L/R channels?
I'd like to know more about how well the IR repeater works. I ahve a central AV stack with two receviers, some cable boxes, DVD players, PS4, Apple TV, etc., and I duistribute these signals to various TVS throughout the house. (The PS4 requires an IR to Internet--protocol converter; and the APlle TV works through splitting the optical). In the past I have had trouble with Monoprice (Matrix-sending-hdmi-over-Cat6 devices) transmitting IR over Cat6. The Monoprice units have been very sketchy in reliably controlling even a single device, like a cable box or receiver. The IR receivers are taped to the wall a few feet from my TVs. I have to aim the remote at the IR receiver at a very particular angle and from a very particular number of feet away - even to control a single device like a cable box at the other end where the Monoprice matrix is (by my AV stack). Also, when I tried to split the IR out from the monoprice receiver on my AV stack so that it would control numerous devices (cable box, DVD player, receiver) it totally failed. To split the IR signal I used a Niles IR splitter which used to work fine with my old Octavia Matrix, and which worked fine in many applications before that. Help?
