Is the cable a glass fiber conductor or plastic?

BEST ANSWER: According to Monopice webpage.
All our Toslink cables are POF (Plastic Optical Fiber). For most audio systems, you should not hear any difference between a plastic optical cable and a glass quartz optical cable unless you are at lengths exceeding 100 feet and transmitting at extreme bandwidth levels. In fact, the performance with plastic has been improving because the Optoelectrical Components (used in Audio Equipment) are designed to interface with POF fibers.

Will the 50 ft work on Denon surround sound?

BEST ANSWER: It would be helpful if you included more information about your setup, but generally as long as your Denon Receiver has an optical audio input, you can connect it to virtually any source (Blu-ray, cable box, etc.) that also has an optical audio out.

This is not proprietary. So yes, it will work if your both audio components components use this connector. Be careful however, this, like every other optical cable, is particularly fragile because of the glass components. be delicate with it, or it wil break andl not pass signal.
