Just bought a Sony 850 series Tv and calls for a ir blaster. Never heard of one before and still trying to figure out?

BEST ANSWER: IR "Blasters" are typically used when wanting to control several devices (TV, Blu Ray, Apple TV) through a single switching device like a Denon, Onkyo, Crestron, et al, home entertainment center where there would be a single Control device, remote control, iPad, button Pad. The Red "emitter" bulb is placed over the Device"s IR receptor, and the 3.5 mini plug goes into the Control Switch.

This item helped me transfer a remote control signal over cat 5 line to cable box. It was needed due to multi band frequency transmission. Works great now.

Should have come with one. They allow you to use the tv as air repeater / blaster so you can hide your components.

I currently have product #8060 and they don't seem to work with this product although they worked perfectly with an older HDMI extender that just quit working.

Wish I could help you with this, but I didn't have any requirement to extend the IR remotes. I only put these in for a 32' & 46' HDMI extension @ 1080P/60 to remote input wall plates in a 'wide' conference room.

Which IR receiver and transmitter (blaster) should be used with this unit (21792)? I've tried 27220 and 8059+8060 and neither seem to work. Is there a different IR kit that works with the 21792?

I received this IR blaster to use with my HDBaseT extender. It states that one IR eye is an extender and one is a blaster but which is which? They aren't labeled.

Just bought the Blackbird 4k 8x8 HDBaseT Matrix. Is the Blackbird IR Blaster the only IR product I can use with this matrix? I need to be able to control multiple devices in the basement from my living room and if the IR Blaster is the only method to do this and Monoprice are current out of stock, the matrix would be redundant just now. Am I correct?

Whenever you select a source at the remote TV location, the switcher automatically directs not only the video and audio to the TV, but also directs the IR signal from the TV location back to the source device.

If your cable box has an "IR IN" port you could point your remote at the IR receiver that would come with this kit, after placing it somewhere in your line of sight, to get the signal to pass through to the cable box.

Doesn't work with product #21793
Back in August, 2018, I wrote a review of this product in which I gave it five stars because it worked fine with product #21609. Recently, I purchased product #21793, and it doesn't seem to work at all.
However, this product has a confusing history, I think. In my previous review, I stated "They also have a 5V unit (product #27220) that is, presumably, compatible with the other Blackbird units." However, since then, THIS 12V IR blaster is now labeled at product #27220. So... I don't know. I've talked with support numerous times, and I get different answers each time.

Great product, but BEWARE!
This product is a 12V IR blaster that is compatible with only SOME of the Blackbird HDBaseT units here on Monoprice. They also have a 5V unit (product #27220) that is, presumably, compatible with the other Blackbird units.
I'm giving this product five stars because it works beautifully with the HDBaseT device we ended up using (product # 21609). But I would give the Monoprice labeling 0 stars if I could, since their lack of care in labeling cost me some painful hours of technical support.

Works great with my 21609 HDBaseT extender
Works great with my 21609 HDBaseT extender. Does what it's supposed to do, although the emitter isn't a "blaster", so the IR only reaches the one device the emitter is next to. There are workarounds for that, though.
